NFL Lockout: Young players remain in limbo

Those NFL prospects not drafted last weekend sit in limbo, waiting. If the lockout ends this week, they could become the next Dan Kreider, James Harrison or Ramon Foster. If it lasts much longer, they could become your next tax accountant.

Chris Johnson “can’t” play for $550,000

“I can’t play for 550,000″ Johnson told the Tennessean.  This is another example of Johnson showing that he is very serious about holding out long into training camp.  At 550,000, Johnson was the 14th highest paid running back in the league in terms of total salary according to the USAToday.   This leaves him behind Darren McFadden, Jamal Lewis, and Steven Jackson...

Mendenhall says a Fullback would be a welcome sight

Tim Lester, Jon Wittman, Dan Kreider, John L. Williams. A couple players in the past that have been and were solid fullbacks for the Black and Gold, opening holes for the likes of Jerome Bettis, Eric Pegram, Barry Foster and others. Now the Steelers feature back is former first-round pick Rashard Mendenhall, and coming into the 2010 season, there’s no doubt the Steelers have...

Cardinals Very Concerned With Their Situation At Fullback

Pro Football Weekly hears that the Cardinals are quite concerned about their situation at fullback, where serviceable third-year pro Nehemiah Broughton was the one healthy option at last check. Reagan Maui'a, the only other fullback on the roster, has been bothered by a strained groin. The Cardinals seriously considered re-signing unrestricted free agent Dan Kreider, who provided...

Welcome to Cleveland West

Add another former Cleveland Browns player to the Arizona Cardinals roster. The Cards added FB Charles Ali today.  Apparently talks between the Cards and incumbent FB Dan Kreider broke off and are no longer negotiating, prompting the Ali signing. Ali joins former Browns, QB Derek Anderson and Director of Player Personnel T.J. McCreight, in the Cardinals family. Not real huge news...

They'll Be OK.....

Damn.   After an unreal evening in the Burgh on Saturday, the Steelers layed this enormous turd in the middle of Heinz field.   0-4 in the redzone = puke on our jeans. There is not a single stat in this game that we could hang our hat on. Yeah, the stat sheet looks even, and neither team scored an offensive touchdown, but none of that matters, the Bengals escaped with a win...

Former Steelers FB Dan Krieder Inks with the Cards

The Cardinals continued their trend of acquiring former Steelers by signing veteran free agent fullback Dan Kreider today. This effectively ended the possibility of the Terrelle Smith returning to the Cardinals in 2009. Kreider played in 11 games for the St. Louis Rams in 2008 before being released on November 26th with just one carry [...]

THE NEWS

PICS OF THE DAY"I’m at a pool hall in Glendale, CA last weekend and I notice a display case with 5 autographed jerseys. The obvious ones were Shaq, Kobe, and a Reggie Bush USC jersey. There was a Darren Woodson Cowboys jersey for no apparent reason. Most importantly, the coveted center spot was granted to your friend and mine, Mr. Raul Ramon Mondesi Avelino! There were...

Mike Tomlin’s Day Care Back In Business

Today, at approximately four o'clock in the afternoon, football season officially begins in western Pennsylvania. No longer will Pittsburgh have to suffer through yet another season of pitiful baseball, lousy management, and idiotic trades by our inept Pirates. Tucked safely along the rolling hills of Westmoreland County, the Pittsburgh Steelers will convene their 42nd training...

The Steelers Might have the Worst Luck

The Steelyard posted an injury report for Pittsburgh this week. This one stood out immediately. "Apparently, Kendall Simmons suffered a frostbite-like burn after applying a cold pack to his foot while watching Monday Night Football." Unbelievable. The Steelers won't be full strength for the Chiefs this weekend. Having a lineman hurt himself watching football...
