As Denzel Perryman watched the NFL draft earlier this month, he thought the future looked pretty good.
South Florida was all he knew, and he loved it. His high school, Coral Gables, was less than two minutes away from his college, the University of Miami. As he sat in his apartment in Kendall, a 10-minute drive from campus, he and his family believed the hometown Miami Dolphins would...
College Football 24/7 writer Bryan Fischer examined the 2015 NFL draft class and picked out 100 rookies who are ready to make a sudden impact with their new teams. Five former Hurricanes made his list, starting with linebacker Denzel Perryman at No. 27."The team [San Diego Chargers] wanted a physical thumper in the middle of the defense and got a good one in Perryman," Fischer wrote...

NFL media analyst Bucky Brooks has broken the top of the 2015 draft down into three tiers: elite prospects, blue chips and red chips.Only six players were talented enough to earn Brooks' elite moniker; 15 more were deemed blue chip. Of the 25 red chips Brooks named, three are former Miami Hurricanes. Linebacker Denzel Perryman and running back Duke Johnson were two of five prospects...
What if an NFL team pulled from a single college program for all seven of its draft picks?Although highly unlikely, it wouldn't be a terrible idea if the school is Miami, writes Dave Hyde of the Sun Sentinel. Here's how Hyde fantasizes an all-Hurricane draft would go down in 2015:Round 1: OT Ereck FlowersRound 2: WR Phillip Dorsett or LB Denzel Perryman (take your pick)Round 3: TE...
Bucky Brooks has been high on Hurricanes before.
He’s the NFL Network analyst who gushed over Stephen Morris before the 2013 season, saying he might be “the most talented quarterback” in a draft class that included Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater. Of course, Morris looked good before he got hurt that September, but … still.
His praise of Denzel Perryman and Duke Johnson...

In the offseason prior to the 2014 season, the Atlanta Falcons vowed to themselves and those around the NFL that they would display much needed toughness—especially on the defensive side of the ball. Aiming to develop a much more rugged attitude, the team executed approximately 10 new tackling drills for training camp, including the famous Oklahoma drill. Likewise, if one tuned...

Coaches always play down the testing that they do for their football players. They always say that your 40 does not make you a great player. Your bench press doesn't mean you will be worth a flip either. It's just what we do. Everyone knows this, but we still watch and marvel at what these guys are capable of doing. For example, take this video of Miami linebacker Denzel Perryman...
The New England Patriots continue to make it obvious they want to add another top linebacker this offseason.
The Patriots held a private workout with Miami linebacker Denzel Perryman, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. Perryman is projected as a third-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft by The Sports Xchange.
The 5-foot-11, 236-pound linebacker ran a 4.78-second 40-yard dash...
Over the past couple of weeks it seems that the linebacker position has become a significant need for the Patriots currently. The team hosted then free agent linebacker Rolando McClain for a visit last week, due to the news that Dont'a Hightower may not be ready to start the season.
With McClain back in Dallas, and Hightower recovering from surgery the Patriots linebacker spot is...

The Saints may have picked the perfect year to stockpile a bunch of picks in the first few rounds. The reason for that being that there simply aren’t a lot of ‘stars’ in this draft and the few that there are will be taken early. It is entirely possible that some desperate teams will want to move up to get players which will either give the Saints chances to stockpile, or it...
The pre-draft coverage and our ability to accurately predict who is going to get drafted is half the fun of an otherwise boring off-season. I can pretty much guarantee that there are going to be some things coming from me (and probably other members of thesaintsnation family) that will make you laugh… and shake your heads. Fortunately we haven’t reached that point quite yet....
Our Johnny Regina continues his top five NFL Draft series, with a look at inside linebacker prospects for the New York Jets…
5. Denzel Perryman, Miami (FL): One of the most overrated prospects in this year’s draft. He’s fairly small for a linebacker at 5’11, 236 pounds and has a lack of instincts. Perryman never sees what is going to happen on the field, until it is actually...
First Round-Kevin White, WR, West Virginia. The Raiders need to give Derek Carr some toys to play with. White has the size, speed and leaping ability you desire out of your number one wide receiver.Second Round-Nate Orchard, DE, Utah. If you were to compare the Raiders pass rush in 2014 to the sauces at Buffalo Wild Wings, it would be Sweet BBQ. In other words, their pass rush weak...
CORAL GABLES — UM’s scrimmage Thursday, its first of three this spring, will be the team’s final meeting before an 11-day vacation for spring break. Players are free to do as they please.
Quarterback Brad Kaaya will return home to Los Angeles and work out at his high school. Running back Gus Edwards, from currently freezing Staten Island, N.Y., will stay in Miami and...
After UCLA's Eric Kendricks, another player that the Giants could look at in the top 40 picks that would fill the void in the middle of the defense is the man who patrolled the middle of Miami's defense for the last four seasons. He played in 12 games as a true freshman and was second on the team in tackles as a true freshman in 2011. He then made six starts in nine games in the...
The big story from a Packers perspective from the 2015 NFL Combine has been the overall disappointment of the inside linebackers. Mike Mayock mentioned it on the broadcast and Paul Dawson and Denzel Perryman disappointed in particular.
Dawson was a big disappointment to me, as he was my top inside linebacker in this draft after watching his TCU film. I’m not going to back off that...
INDIANAPOLIS -- At last year's NFL Scouting Combine, Mike McCarthy recalled being asked approximately seven questions about the Green Bay Packers' struggles at safety. The need to address that position was as obvious to reporters as it was to the Packers, who drafted Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the first round less than three months later.
There is once again a glaring positional weakness...
The Miami football program has not performed at an elite level in recent seasons, but the Hurricanes’ ability to produce NFL talent has not decreased.
There are currently eight former Miami student-athletes participating in the NFL Combine this week. It’s the third-highest total among ACC schools (Florida State has 12, Louisville has 11).
All eight players – DE Anthony...
