The Texas Rangers have been all over the map this season. A questionable start in April, to a white-hot May, and now an abysmal stretch in June, the Rangers have been the definition of inconsistent. It seems impossible to know this team’s true identity.
Texas has shown signs of being a top team in baseball. Before Tuesday’s loss to Oakland, the Rangers...
The Texas Rangers are in second place in the AL West only three games back of the Astros, and only half a game back of the Tampa Bay Rays for the second wild card spot entering Tuesday. With them unexpectedly so close to grabbing a playoff spot and in the middle of the hunt the trade rumors have started. The Rangers have had a weak starting pitching staff due to injuries, and may...

The Texas Rangers have placed left handed pitcher Derek Holland on the 60-day disabled list.
This comes a day after the team shut down the 28-year-old year for the next four to six weeks. Shoulder issues have wrecked Holland’s career over the past few seasons. He missed almost all of the 2014 season and will now miss until late June or early July of this season.
The Texas Rangers are in a state of emergency. Starting pitcher Derek Holland, who is due to be the ace for the team, is out after one inning. Holland allowed two hits in his inning of work. Jose Altuve singled and was picked off after George Springer grounded out. Jed Lowrie hit a home run to give the Astros the lead.
Holland missed most of last season due to a knee injury. He pitched...

The Texas Rangers were quick to downplay the fact that left-hander Derek Holland was scratched from starting Sunday's intrasquad game.
So was Holland.
General manager Jon Daniels said Holland was experiencing "normal" spring soreness in his left shoulder and Holland agreed with the diagnosis, although he wanted to still pitch in Sunday's game.
"It's just precautionary," Holland...

The holiday season is here.
It's a time that brings out the best in people. There's gift giving and good cheer spreading. There's mistletoe kissing and Christmas caroling. There are sweaters, and dreidels, and ladles full of heavily-bourboned egg nog. But most of all, there's forgiveness for the pets and animals that have wronged us throughout the year (That's you, Randy -- I forgive...
Derek Holland has the same goals just about every big league pitcher has.
The Texas left-hander would like to be part of a World Series winner. He'd also like to win a Cy Young Award.
And then there's this.
"I'd like to win the Marvin Miller Man of the Year award," Holland said.
That honor goes to a player for their play as well as their contributions to the community.
As busy as...

Texas Rangers left-hander Derek Holland was scratched from his Saturday start as the result of a migraine and will not be able to start Sunday either, after there had been some suggestion he would be able to do so. ARLINGTON, Texas - There aren't a lot of players on last-place teams who are hoping that the baseball season could last a little longer.
Derek Holland is one of the rare exceptions.
Holland's tough 2014 season comes to an end Saturday with just six starts at the major-league level. It's not near what he was hoping for after he had microfracture surgery on his left knee in January...
Look at the list of two-pitch starters these days, and you won’t find any left-handers. That’s probably because lefty starters have to think about opposite-handed hitters more than anyone. That’s probably also why more lefties use changeups than righties — the pitch is more effective against opposite-handed batters. Well, Derek Holland‘s changeup has seen better […]
In early January Derek Holland had microfracture surgery on his left knee to repair torn cartilage behind the kneecap. At first he was only expected to miss half of the season, but other setbacks delayed his 2014 debut until September 2. After watching his first two starts I couldn’t tell he missed any time at all. The fastball velocity was intact. The command and quality of the...
ARLINGTON, Texas - The list of questions the Texas Rangers will have following a disastrous 2014 season is a long one.
None of those should have anything to do with Derek Holland.
Holland, making his second start since returning from left knee surgery, was once again sharp in a 1-0 victory over Seattle that helped the club snap an eight-game losing streak.
Holland, who hadn't won...
