It is difficult to evaluate Mike Maccagnan’s body of work prior to being hired as the New York Jets General Manager. We know he spent a decade as a scout, got promoted to Assistant Director of College Scouting in 2010 and then moved up to Director in 2011 after Houston’s draft. We don’t know the inner workings of Houston’s organization or which decisions ultimately came down...
The Texans are already close to the cap with just about 8.5 million in cap space available to spend. What will the Texans do this offseason about their cap space money and free agency?

Last year Pro Football Focus had Derek Newton ranked 73rd out of 79 offensive tackles, a lot of analysts thought he would be cut this off-season. O’Brien not only didn’t cut Newton he had faith in him to be the starting tackle and it has paid off. Newton played outstanding this year and I would say he was the most improved Texans player this year.
Newton went from bottom ranks...
The Texans season is over for the year and free agency is looming, they need to do something at the quarterback position this off-season. The Texans haven’t even signed Mallett for the next season but they probably will.
They will need someone competent to back him up, with his injury this year they will want to make sure they get a guy that can step in a play if he goes down....
The Texans have been on a hot streak lately and they need to continue it against the Jaguars and pray that they get the help they need. A loss would ensure this is the last game of the year for the Texans so they better make sure they take care of business on their end. A win means the Texans also need wins from the Browns and Chiefs, this would get them to the post season.

I don’t think I even need to name one of the two guys, of course the best defensive player in the NFL J.J. Watt is going to Hawaii. Arian Foster was the other Texans elected to go. Watt had a career year and was a shoe in to go. Foster was quietly very good this year, he had 1,223 yards and eight touchdowns, with four receiving touchdowns on top of that.
Watt recorded 17.5 sacks...
The season is moving along quickly, and with that, we’re learning more about who will be the studs for this season, and who will be the duds. We’re going to take a look at the Houston Texans stock so far through the season, and who I believe is on the rise as well as who will be on the downward slope.

2013 was a year of disappointing play on all sides of the ball. The offense could not move the ball with any semblance of efficiency, the defense could not stay off the field, and the special teams seemed to forget they were on an actual NFL team at times. No single person was to blame, but there were a few that stood out as bad apples, that have completely turned it around this...
HOUSTON (AP) Houston's offensive line has emerged as one of the strengths of the Texans in their 2-0 start.
A big reason for the improvement from last season is the development of right tackle Derek Newton. Running back Arian Foster, who has rushed for 241 yards through Houston's first two games, raved about him as the Texans prepare for this weekend's game on the road against the...

For the Houston Texans, training camp has had its ups and down. Players are working hard, and many players are impressing early, such as Derek Newton and Jared Crick.
However, there have been problems too, and that’s the health of Arian Foster and Andre Johnson.
As the Houston Chronicle reported on Monday, Johnson tweaked his hamstring and Foster had an injury that the team isn’t...
The Houston Texans ran a successful third day training camp session, according to analyst John Harris.
Harris, who shared his “24 observations” from Day 3, Among them, free agent newcomer Jerrell Powe;s strength really impressed Harris at training camp, and “placed Chris Myers into the lap of the quarterback,” before Myers was able to to reset quickly and stop him.
When it comes to grading team’s in the NFL Draft, it takes 3 years to properly asses a team’s success. I previously graded the Jacksonville Jaguars draft.

The Texans have the 1st pick in the second round and are in real need of a right tackle. I know the offensive lineman position is not a very sexy one but those players are some of the most crucial guys on the field. Drafting a lineman is a boring, but important pick. Lets take a look at some potential offensive linemen the Texans might take in the 2014 draft.
