DERRICK FROST NEWS

Derrick Frost Is A Villain

It’s been a few years, so for those of you who don’t remember him, Derrick Frost was the Redskins punter from 2005-2007.  He’s best remembered for thumping the Titans punt returner hard enough to force a fumble during a preseason game in 2007.  I don’t really have anything mean to say about the guy, but in the newly released movie “Source Code,”...

Green Bay Packers NFL Draft 2010 Preview: Round 1 Primary Targets

As the 2010 NFL Draft approaches, Ted Thompson is quietly huddled down in his basement sharpening his darts and practicing his target throwing. For now, he’s been using photos of punters Derrick Frost and Jeremy Kapinos as targets ( he wore out the Brett Favre target last off-season). But come Thursday night (I still can’t get used to saying that), who will Ted Terrific...

One Solution to the Packers Punting Situation; Bring Home the Turk

I don’t have to tell you how bad the Green Bay Packers’ punting game was in 2009. Still, Jeremy Kapinos did a better job than Derrick Frost, whom the Packers infamously kept in favor of Jon Ryan in 2008.  Unfortunately, Kapinos was last or close to last in the NFL in almost every punting category [...]

I don’t have to tell you how bad the Green Bay Packers’ punting game was in 2009. Still, Jeremy Kapinos did a better job than Derrick Frost, whom the Packers infamously kept in favor of Jon Ryan in 2008.  Unfortunately, Kapinos was last or close to last in the NFL in almost every punting category in 2009. Change a constant in the kicking game

Green Bay — Five years into his run as the Green Bay Packers general manager, Ted Thompson has yet to fully solve the kicking game. One reason is the Packers have never had the same kicker and punter for consecutive seasons under Thompson's watch. Back in 2005, kicker Ryan Longwell and punter B.J. Sander handled things. The Packers went with Dave Rayner and Jon Ryan...

Green Bay Packers Kicking Game: Training Camp Improvements To Wish for

As the Packers' 2009 training camp begins, here are the developments I want to see in the kicking game by the time the Packers break camp. Kickoff Returns: Green Bay was last in the league last year in kickoff return yardage. Which is a bit surprising, considering Will Blackmon was so good on punt returns. Jordy Nelson had even less success in his attempts. The new NFL rules...

Stability afoot for Redskins

Plackemeier, Brooks, Frost, Groom and Tupa is not a high-powered D.C. law firm. It's also not the long-winded name of a late 1960s rock band. No, Ryan Plackemeier, Durant Brooks, Derrick Frost, Andy Groom and Tom Tupa are the punters whom the Washington Redskins have employed since Danny Smith became their special teams coach in 2004. Include Bryan Barker, Craig Jarrett, Tommy...

Three Punters

I just wanted to point out that right now the Packers have three punters on the roster.         We can all agree last year’s Derrick Frost debacle was unfortunate and it would have been nice if it never happened. Yes, Jon Ryan was better and we decided to go with accuracy over power and what we got [...]

Joe Gibbs' Faith Helps Derrick Frost's Leg (via Mr. Irrelevant)

Dirtlocker points for: Todd Collins, Derrick Frost, Eli Manning, Joe Gibbs, Joe Torre The two quarterbacks in tonight's Skins-Giants game are a combined 10-39 at halftime, so you know conditions aren't good. Of course, with the signal-callers being Todd Collins (where's my bourbon-and-ginger?) and E...

17 Unanswered Points

Before the game, a certain kicker, let's call him Todd Sauerbrun, stated how he was "http://den.scout.com/2/704905.html" to kick to Devin . Well, let me be one of the first to say, Hey, Thanks!!Could you go ahead and call Derrick Frost and let him know to do that next week as well? Thanks, man!Bwaa...

Kicking It, Canadian Style

The Washington Redskins brought in Shaun Suisham in the last month of the 2006 season to help with their ever-so frequent kicking troubles. Suisham performed well, and this year, it appears that Suisham will keep his starting position as he is the only kicker currently at Redskin training camp. THN caught up with him at this year's training camp to ask him about a few things...

Mike III's Domination Machine: The Return

Some thoughts from today's game on CBS...Jim Nantz and Phil Simms always seem to broadcast a game like they're in the clubhouse chatting with the bartender before heading out for the back nine don't they? They always come off sort of bemused at what's going on with the game like they've had a bloody mary or two and now all they can remember was that great drive...

Packers 48, Lions 25

The Green Bay Packers almost lost to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. I thank God for the word "almost" right there. How close can a 48-25 game get? Very close apparently. At my 2:30 PM Update, the Packers were up 21-3 at the half and it seemed like they were in control. I even speculated that Matt

NFL Week 2 - Skins, Broncos Show Serious Balls

We got two games in the D.C. area today, Saints at Redskins and Chargers at Broncos. Both were greatly entertaining. For the record, I hate the Redskins.Saints at Skins - This game should have been over at halftime. Shockey lost a fumble and tipped a ball up for an interception, giving the Redskins five scoring opportunities in the first half. Due to some conservative playcalling...

Packers Boot Punter Ryan in Favor of Former Redskin Frost

The Pack has bounced punter Jon Ryan, and taking his place booting kicks this year is former Redskin and Browns punter Derrick Frost.  Ryan came to the team as an unrestricted free agent back in 2006.  He had an average of 44.5 yards per punt in two years with the team.  Frost, who was a cut victim of the Skins on Saturday, has a career average is 41.1 yards, and his net is 36.4.
