ASU season preview: Defensive backs

TEMPE, Ariz. -- As good as Arizona State's secondary was last season, finishing third in the nation in pass defense, it was also the Sun Devils' thinnest unit. With that in mind, losing two starters from the group to graduation wasn't ideal. Though the situation is still bit fluid, ASU seems to have formed a plan to replace safety Keelan Johnson and cornerback Deveron...

Carr growing on and off the field

In a nutshell, Deveron Carr represents everything that Arizona State football has been since joining the team in 2008. A local product who struggled to meet lofty expectations early in his career, Carr has made a dramatic turnaround on the field, assuming the leader role on defense while helping guide the secondary towards becoming one of the more outstanding defensive units in the country.

ASU ignoring Berkeley history, focusing on Cal

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State's well-documented road woes have been widespread over the last decade, but perhaps no locale has been as unrelenting in that time as Berkeley, Calif. ASU corners move on from last year's struggles

TEMPE, Ariz. Compare the Arizona State depth charts from 2011 and 2012 and youll note a host of defensive changes. The defensive line could have three new starters, while the linebacking corps and safety position will be modeling fresh faces across the board.
