Reds birthdays: Josh Judy, Dioner Navarro
A warm, Redlegs Review happy birthday goes to newcomers Josh Judy and Dioner Navarro.
Judy, a product of Morgantown, West Virginia, turns 26 today.
Cincinnati swiped the right-handed reliever off waivers from the Indians back in December. He appeared in 12 games for the Tribe last season, including two innings of relief against the Reds at GABP in July. He currently resides...

Rays Navarro a real team player
Marc Topkin of the St. Pete Times is reporting on what a great team player C Dioner Navarro is. The Rays are using minor league catcher Nevin Ashley to work out with the team or to be available if the club needs another catcher. The reason? Dioner Navarro decided to go home and not hang around for the playoffs since he was left off the post-season roster. What a guy. Way to support...

Assessing the players: Dinoner Navarro
What grade does Navarro get after a short season?Another day, another assessment, we continue with the catchers and this time we will be looking at the former All-Star and now MIA Dioner Navarro. Navarro was the catcher opening day, but as the season grew on and his performance continued to slump and the arrival of John Jaso, Navarro was sent packing to the minors where he still...

Should Navarro Stay the Dodgers Starting Catcher?
One of the biggest things that’s been plaguing the Los Angeles Dodgers lately (other than their embattled owner Frank McCourt) is pitching. A team in a park that’s supposed to be built on pitching has been horrible at it.
The last Dodgers shut out was May 29th, Clayton Kershaw against the Mariners and believe it or not Dioner Navarro was the pitcher then as well. Before...

Reds sign Catcher Dioner Navarro
In a move that should make Javier Valentin fans pretty happy, the Reds have signed catcher Dioner Navarro.
This would seem to jive with the rumor we’ve heard that Ryan Hanigan will be traded soon. We hope not, but we’ve heard it. Navarro is going to be 28 next season and hit a Javy Valentin-esque .193/.276/.324 in 202 plate appearances for the Dodgers last year.
The Reds...

Navarro signs with Dodgers
The news just keeps flying out everywhere. Former Ray catcher Dioner Navarro has signed a one year deal with the LA Dodgers.
This does not affect the Rays, Navarro was gone during the playoffs and the Rays had no intention of even talking to him afterwards. Navarro should fit in fine with the Dodgers and might even start for them now that Russell Martin is going to the East Coast.

Dioner Navarro Gets Above Minimum, Clayton Kershaw Extension, And Signing Eugenio Velez
-Dioner Navarro has signed a one year, one million dollar contract with the Dodgers.
In the last two seasons, he has put up lines of .218/.261/.322/.583 and .194/.270/.258/.528. For that gloriousness, he has been rewarded with a major league contract, and i'm not sure why.
He's about a replacement level player at this point, and considering that his replacement on the...

Have no fear, the 205-lb .194 batter is here (again):
In a pair of developments that perfectly illustrate the fickle nature of professional baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers completed their agreement with free-agent catcher Dioner Navarro on Tuesday, signing him to a one-year, $1 million contract, even as two-time All-Star Russell Martin -- the man who supplanted Navarro as the...

What Will Rays Do With Their 3-Headed Catcher In 2011?
With the return of Dioner Navarro this week, the Rays now have an interesting dilemma this off-season. When Navi was demoted back in June, we just assumed that he would be non-tendered during the off-season, essentially releasing him. It appeared that the Rays had chosen Kelly Shoppach’s bat over Navi’s defense and familiarity with the pitching staff. And with the...

Yesterday, when we posted the postseason roster, we noted that Dioner Navarro was among those not asked to stay and keep working out with the club in case a player is injured or the team makes changes before the ALCS.
