Why All of Your NFL Fantasy Picks Suck

Did you pick any of these guys in your fantasy draft? Well they, and you, suck. Here’s why. (Note: players ranked using ESPN.com’s fantasy rankings.) 1. Adrian Peterson, RB, Vikings — Congratulations. Your top running back has run the ball a staggering 1,945 times over the past 7 seasons, is coming off of the lowest yardage season of his pro career, is running...

Breaking Down Mike Haywood

Well, it is pretty much official at this point as both the PG’s Paul Ziese and ESPN’s Joe Schad are going on the record saying that Mike Haywood is the next head football coach for the Panthers.  While Haywood wasn’t exactly my first choice (nor do I think that he was Steve Pederson’s for that matter but that is a story for another post) I still cannot help...

Where are they now? Former Texans tackle Seth Wand

Seth Wand seals the edge for Domanick Davis during the 2004 season (photo: Phil Coale/Associated Press)Every once in a while you run across a name that you haven't heard in a while. That happened to me yesterday when an ar...

Philly, New England and Atlanta Continue To Roll

Well….I didn’t do so well this week. A mediocre 7-6.….putting my record to 39-20. Not bad….but I’m not fighting Wayne Root for parlay odds advertisements. Oh, well….there were 10 road favorites this week…so some of them had to fall. And the Redskins, Titans and Saints did. Also, the Eagles, Patriots and Falcons each continued their undefeated ways….while the Jags...

SPORTZ 2005 FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM

Yesterday [uh, Sunday], me and 7 of my friends held our 2005 Fantasy Football League Draft at my house. It had all of the normal FFL fare. Guys with fantasy guides, clipboards, folders, notecards and when a pick was made, they were furiously jotting it down with a few screaming in anger that their "sleeper" was just swept away. My wife made a delicious snack-feast....

Sportz & Co.'s Week 1 Predictions

RAIDERS AT PATRIOTS. Oakland is ready to stroll out it's new offensive weapons: Moss and Jordan. The Patriots are ready to stroll out and try for a 3-peat. The Pats did lose a bit on defense...but still are the most prepared team in the NFL. Sure, the new guys will get theirs...but the Pats win 27-17George Coztanza, Yannis, Raisin, KiserBlade, Treesoup, Monponsett, Lew:...

Sportz Football Roundup - 9/26

Instead of a full breakdown of the NFL's Week 3....I'm just going to take a look at the best and the worst of the league. Those teams that still have a ZERO in their records. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (3-0)WHY THEY CAN KEEP IT GOING: Their defense has been stunning....allowing a mere 16 points all season long. And how many people expect the offense to keep playing this badly...

Week 5 Aftermath

BRONCOS 21-REDSKINS 19. I am both disappointed and optimistic. For one month now, I've heard about how lucky my Redskins were. Beating the Bad Bears by 2. Pulling a 1-pt game out of our butts in Dallas. Having a missed FG by Seattle send a game into overtime that we ended up winning. When hearing all of this, I just nodded and said "well, a win is a win" but deep...

NFL PREVIEW PT 6 - AFC South

The AFC South is a collection of the Colts and everyone else. The division is so bad that the Jaguars were 12-4 last year and earned zero respect from anyone. In fact, the Jags and Colts were a combined 26-6 during the regular season and a combined 0-2 in the playoffs. Add to that fact that the Texans had the worst record in the NFL and the Titans tied for the 2nd worst record...

Draft Day Cometh

Today is my Fantasy Football League's draft. It is the 3rd year for our league and my "Assassins" team is the defending champion. It is a keeper league, and we get to keep three guys from our 2005 team....but none of those guys can play the same position [you can't keep more than one of any position]. With two years under our belts....talent has been spread...

BREAKING NEWS: Domanick Davis Placed on Injured Reserve

The Texans have made it official: Domanick Davis has been placed on injured reserve, ending his 2006 season before it even began. Currently, the Week 1 starter is slated to be Wali Lundy, who will split carries to some degree with Vernand Morency. Both should move up on your draft sheets. Also m...

Running Backs Dropping Like Flies

Just in time for your fantasy playoffs, a number of reliable running backs are unlikely to play this weekend: Domanick Davis's knee isn't getting better, and there's talk of him possibly needing surgery. Jonathan Wells filled in admirably for Davis last week against Arizona. While you may need to...

Bush convenes Congress to figure out who he should start between LT2, Ronnie Brown, and Frank Gore

WASHINGTON, DC — President George W. Bush made an extremely unorthodox and frankly unprecedented move in the annals of American history Saturday, calling both houses of Congress together for an emergency weekend session. “I imagine that he’s calling us together to discuss the ramifications of the financial bailout plan,” said Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who left [...]

Sunday Bloody Sunday

I heard the same things from everyone I talked to. After a 31-12 disaster in Tennessee on Sunday, it appears that we can look forward to a top 10 pick in the 2009 NFL draft. Why? We have a QB who appears rattled and a little scared in the pocketThe coach seems to call safe plays in critical situations to protect the QBThe defensive backs are getting beat by the backup's backups...
