Virginia Destroyers win UFL title
Aaron Rouse returned one of his three interceptions 46 yards for a touchdown to help the Virginia Destroyers win the United Football League championship game, 17-3 over the Las Vegas Locomotives on Friday night.
Dominic Rhodes, the league's offensive MVP, ran for 90 yards, scoring on a 2-yard run in the second quarter to give the Destroyers a 14-0 lead. The Destroyers gave coach...

The Virginia Destroyers Cheerleaders Deserve Some Kudos
It can’t be easy cranking it out season after season in the UFL. It also can’t be easy if you’re a dude like Dominic Rhodes who used to be in the big leagues taking snaps with Peyton Manning. But I guess it’s better than being in the NBA right now.
Anyway, the reason I bring up Rhodes is because he just set a rushing record during a game between the Virginia...

RB Rhodes, LB Barton suspended by NFL
The NFL on Saturday suspended Indianapolis Colts running back Dominic Rhodes for one year and free agent linebacker Eric Barton for four games.
No reasons were given for the suspensions, although they are believed to be for violations of the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
The ban of Rhodes, 32, is believed to be for a third violation. He played for Indianapolis...

Something to Prove: Colts Running Back Donald Brown
Since 2006, when rookie Joseph Addai and veteran Dominic Rhodes combined to give the Colts a respectable running attack, Indianapolis has watched its ground game decline. When Bill Polian chose to bring in Donald Brown in the First Round of the 2009 NFL Draft, there was hope that things would begin to turn around. Finally, [...]

RBs and the passing game
The value of elite backs to QBs
You can also look at others who weren’t in this data set, where a star running back got injured or traded and was replaced, like the Edgerrin James/Dominic Rhodes situation. In most cases, the backup put up decent numbers, but it was the passing game that struggled. Brett Favre’s worst season until last year came when running back injuries...

Colts Running Backs
This is the fourth and final installment of our series on the Colts draft needs. The reason I say this is an off-season need is due to the fact that the only running back under contract from last season is Donald Brown. I hope (and think) the Colts will bring back Joseph Addai, Dominic Rhodes, and Mike Hart, or all three. Addai proved to be incredibly valuable after being...

The Myth of The Franchise Quarterback
According to Wikipedia, a franchise player is an athlete who is not simply the best player on their team, but a player that the team can build their "franchise" (team) around for the foreseeable future. The misunderstanding that a franchise player is only "the best player on a team" disregards the fact that an inordinately bad team will undoubtedly still employ...

5 Things To Do In The Case of an NFL Lockout
In the wake of the end of our lives as we know it, I’ve had to do some serious soul-searching. While most of us are willing to believe the owners won’t lockout the whole season, it’s my job to look at the glass half empty. What will we possibly do without the NFL for a full season? Who will we yell at through our television sets when they don’t score that TD that puts us...

Classic Colts Updated
Classic Colts are those players that fans remember and love, but will never make it to the Ring of Honor. The official "Classic Colts" list differs from the designation I used in Blue Blood. The reason is that in Blue Blood, I wanted to be sure to tell the entire history of the team. That means that some guys in the Ring of Honor needed a spot light. I didn't have...

Former Colts running backs coach Gene Huey, who has been offered the same position with the Vikings, said Wednesday he has not yet made a decision about the job and still plans to talk with coach Leslie Frazier.

Colts RB Donoald Brown Must Improve His Play In 2011
Colts RB Donald Brown notched his first 100-yard rushing effort in the Week 15 win over the Jaguars but carried the ball only nine times in the final two games and did not get on the field in the wild-card loss to the Jets. The way Pro Football Weekly hears it, Brown's absence down the stretch was a result of his limitations in pass protection. RBs Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes...
