Mets Farm Report: July 5th, 2011 – Gnats Win 11th Straight
Buffalo Bisons 11 – Syracuse Chiefs 6
Dylan Owen allowed just one hit in this game. That one hit just happened to be a homerun in the 4th that followed a walk and was responsible for the only two runs against him. Recently signed Miguel Batista got into his first action and got shellacked. He only recorded one out and let four runs come in on five hits. His ERA with the Mets is...

Should the Mets be looking outside for a catcher...
Photo by Michael BaronWith the news today that Ronny Paulino has a stomach/colon issue and will more then likely start the season on the DL (after his eight game suspension), I'm left wondering whether they should be looking for another catcher. Mike Nickeas would be fine for the first eight games, but the kid hasn't shown the ability to hit major league pitching and even though...

Mets Cut 8 Players Including Dillon Gee and Boof Bonser
The Mets just announced that they optioned Dillon Gee to minor league camp. They also reassigned righties Boof Bonser and Ryota Igarashi, lefthanded pitcher Taylor Tankersley, catchers Dusty Ryan and Raul Chavez, infielder Russ Adams and outfielder Jason Pridie.
I guessed them all except for Dusty Ryan. I guess they have no more split squad games on the schedule. He was cut instead...

Round two of cuts...
Photo by Michael Baron As reported yesterday the Mets are in the process of cutting approx. 9 players, which will bring the number in camp down 35 ( 56 to start, 11cut first round, Mejia and 9 second round). Leaving 10 players to still be cut with only the last pen spot and 2B up for contention. Nothing is official but so far reporters have seen the following players being...

Mets expected to make more cuts this morning
Posted in MetsBlog
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Sandy Alderson and Terry Collins are expected to cut seven or eight players from major league camp today, which could include Ryota Igarashi, Russ Adams, Jason Pridie, Justin Turner, Dusty Ryan, Blaine Boyer and ‘a handful of others.’
Obviously, that is the big question: Will Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo...

Cappy and Young strong in debut
Photo Courtesy Michael BaronThe two pitchers I expect to be in the rotation started today in split squad games and both received positive reviews. Chris Young started against the Braves, in which he went two perfect innings which included two strikeouts. Dusty Ryan has caught him this spring as he did last year in camp with the Padres and this is what he had to say about...

Mets Intrasquad Game Recap
As promised, here is your recap of the Mets intrasquad game. Although it is very early and this game means virtually nothing, there were some impressive performances to take note of. Scott Hairston played like he is trying to find a way to crack the team's starting lineup. Hairston hit two solo home runs. In addition, Willie Harris and Dusty Ryan each hit solo homers. There were...

Intrasquad Game.. And It Begins
I know it doesn’t mean much, but it does mean baseball begins again! The real spring training opener is tommorrow, but that still didn’t stop today from being an exciting day.
Scott Hairston sent a pair of solo homers out of the yard, accounting for all of Team A’s offense.
Willie Harris and Dusty Ryan each hit solo shots for Team B and Justin Turner hit a sac-fly to score...

20 Mets Spring Training Profiles in 20 Days: Dusty Ryan
14 Days Until Spring Training!
We are down to only two weeks to go! Anyway yesterday we met one of the options for back up back up catcher the Mets have in Raul Chavez, who is probably the leading player for that position. He also has competition from a new acquisition the Mets made in November, Dusty Ryan. Ryan will be 25 this year and has logged 70 major league AB's in his two...

Winter meetings a success for Mets..
If your expectation are lower and you except that this is a transition year then the winter meetings were very productive for the Mets.None of the players they obtained are going to win them a World Series but what they do is fill holes that if everything breaks right gives them a chance to be a competitive team without effecting the long term goals. Ronny Paulino is a decent catcher...
