TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State has made great strides on defense the past four years, improving from No. 100 to one of the nation's top 5.
But for all of the Seminoles' successes, there were few answers the past two years for Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd.
Boyd has thrashed Florida State's defense with his arm and feet. He has thrown for 581 yards and six touchdowns...
In 2012, the Clemson Tigers will defend their ACC Championship title, while also trying to erase the painful memories of their Orange Bowl loss earlier this year. On the positive side for Clemson this season they will be returning four offensive superstars quarterback Tajh Boyd, running back Andre Ellington, and receivers Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins.
On the negative side...
In the early Manning days the Colts called a two tight end set "Kings." They ran it frequently with punishing TEs Ken Dilger and Marcus Pollard.
Those days appear to be returning with the selection of Stanford standout Coby Fleener and Clemson star Dwayne Allen:
“The offense calls for two tight ends who are dynamic and can do different things,” said Allen, sharing...
The Indianapolis Colts have selected small, speedy receiver T.Y. Hilton in the third round of the NFL draft.
Hilton caught 72 passes for 1,038 yards and seven touchdowns last season at Florida International. He's listed at 5-foot-9, 183 pounds and also can return punts and kicks.
Indy traded its fourth-round pick and a fifth-rounder in 2013 to Baltimore to get the choice.

The Indianapolis Colts have drafted a second rookie tight end, taking Clemson's Dwayne Allen in the third round.
They also took Stanford's Coby Fleener in the second round at No. 34 overall.
At 6-foot-3, 255 pounds, Allen won the John Mackey Award as college football's top tight end. Fleener and Allen were generally considered the two best players at their position...

With the first day of the draft behind us, it’s time to look towards the most fun, in my opinion, part of the draft – day two. There are two rounds being picked today and the Bills currently own two of the picks. Numbers 41 and 71 respectively.
Plenty of players have fallen to the second round for Buffalo to try and grab, the question is will they pull the trigger. After addressing...

Clemson junior All-American tight end Dwayne Allen won't have to wait too long to hear his name called during the NFL draft next week.
He's expected to be a late first-round draft pick or go early in the second round.
The New York Giants' No. 32 overall pick of the first round is regarded as a strong potential landing spot for Allen.
We've discussed potential first and second round players, we took a look at the quarterbacks (the ones I liked anyway) and now let's talk about some later round draft picks that have caught my eye and that could help your Buffalo Bills in 2012.
James Brown, OL Troy - 6'4' and 306 pounds, Brown was out of Southwest Mississippi Community College (Junior...
Let's take some time and open a discussion about this year’s tight end class. The Atlanta Falcons have been graced over the last couple years to have the best to ever play the position. Tony Gonzalez revolutionized the game; he brought the size and speed of a basketball player onto the football field. There is now an influx of hybrid players or “H-backs” in the NFL. The...

Over the last several weeks we've been checking out some mocks from around the net and also posting some of our own. Just recently, the guys over at Drafttek put out their tenth concensus mock draft. Let's take a look at who they have the Falcons picking.....
Second Round (Pick 55)- Dwayne Allen, TE/Clemson

Falcon fans, we are just a few weeks away from the 2012 NFL Draft! This week I decided to give you my first full mock draft. Over the next couple weeks I will continue to throw out different draft scenarios. Please feel free to comment whether or not you agree or disagree. As always, you send me your thoughts or ideas on twitter @ColossalChicken.
Second round -Dwayne...
There may not be a tight end this year that’s deserving of a first round pick. Dwayne Allen has struggled in the 40 yard dash at the combine and at the Clemson pro day, but he says the film will show his real game speed. Stanford’s Coby Fleener may be the most complete tight end this year.
Dwayne Allen TE, Clemson
Coby Fleener TE, Stanford
Orson Charles TE, Georgia
Clemson tight end Dwayne Allen and defensive end Andre Branch worked out for nearly four dozen pro personnel on Thursday, including New York Jets coach Rex Ryan.
Allen, considered by the some top tight end available in next month's NFL draft, chose Thursday not to try and improve his disappointing time of 4.89 seconds he ran at the league's scouting combine two weeks ago...
CLEMSON - Dwayne Allen will probably never run another 40-yard dash for the rest of his life, and that’s just fine by him.
The Green Bay Packers led the NFL in passing yards allowed last season. Therefore, they’re going to focus on DBs and and pass-rushers first and foremost in the 2012 NFL draft right? Not so fast my friend. What about a tight end if Jermichael Finley leaves? What about the running back situation?
Then we must consider the fact that Ted Thompson is as much a “value GM” as there...
Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris must find a replacement for Dwayne Allen, the best tight end in the country last season, who is now
preparing for the NFL Draft.
It’s combine time, the male version of a swimsuit calendar shoot. But don’t get too high or too low about this stuff. Like my friend Bill Smith says, “beware the workout warrior.” The site of the past Super Bowl, Indianapolis is also hosting the 2012 NFL Draft Scouting Combine. Let’s take a look at who’s draft stock is trading higher and who’s trading lower after the...
The Clemson Tigers will have a huge void to fill in the coming season, as junior tight end Dwayne Allen decided to enter the NFL. This article examines the scouting information for Allen heading into next month’s NFL Draft.
Weight: 255 Pounds
Position: Tight End
Stats and Awards:
Dwayne Allen had his best season...
INDIANAPOLIS, Feb 26-Yeterday’s edition of the NFL Scouting Combine was a feast or famine affair. There were some offensive linemen and tight ends that looked out of this world and there were some looked like they didn’t even want to be there.
Let’ check-off a few of the stand-out performances from the day with the note that just because you don’t see a guy’s named mentioned...
I only practiced the bench press T...
TE Combine Results
We get 4 full days of coverage of the NFL Scouting Combine this weekend. Today is the offensive linemen and tight ends. Also the special teams but they will not get as much coverage. The offensive linemen are a group that the Steelers will be watching carefully. It is a decent group of tackles with a very deep group of interior offensive linemen. Here are 5 guys to watch...
While some of the top flight prospects are pulling out of workouts here at the NFL Combine, others are embracing the opportunity to showcase their physical talent.
One example is Dwayne Allen, the tight end prospect from Clemson.
“I decided to just come out here and have fun. A lot of other guys are pulling out because of injuries and other reasons. This is a once-in-a-lifetime...
