No shame in losing a close game in Arizona. The Cardinals are a sneaky team this year. The Lions still have the talent to make the playoffs. Reggie Bush might miss this week with injury, but I’m not so sure that Joique Bell isn’t just as good. Bell was 2nd in the NFL in yards per route run among running backs last season, behind only Darren Sproles, and also averaged...
Looking back, the Detroit Lions haven’t received much back from the seven selections made in the 2012 NFL Draft.
The draft was highlighted by first round selection, offensive tackle Riley Reiff and second round selection, wide receiver Ryan Broyles.
As if the Lions needed someone telling them this, ESPN’s “draft expert” reassessed the Lions draft and downgraded the performance...
Bill Bentley thought he was just OK in the Detroit Lions' exhibition opener. Coach Jim Schwartz would prefer that his rookie cornerback leave the criticism to him.
''It's not his job to grade his performance, it's his job to go play and he can play better,'' Schwartz said Sunday. ''He left a couple of plays on the field.''

Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden was not overwhelming, but he got his feet wet as Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback as the team opened the 2012 NFL Preseason with a 19-17 win over the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in the Motor City.
The Browns won the game when kicker Jeff Wolfort split the uprights from 45 yards out with :28 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The first player selected from the Sun Belt Conference in the 2012 draft was Louisiana Lafayette cornerback Dwight Bentley who was tabbed by the Detroit Lions in round three. The Rajin Cajuns are likely to once again have the first player from the conference selected in the 2013 draft. Again a cornerback. Again in round three...
After choosing to continue to build the offense in the first two rounds, the Detroit Lions selected Dwight Bentley with their 85th overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. During OTAs Lion’s Defensive Coordinator Gunther Cunningham admitted that Dwight Bentley was “ahead” of his fellow Defensive Back draft picks in Detroit. Cunningham claimed that [...]
More often than not every team is going to have some sort of drama leading up to training camp. Some of it, like position battles or debates over draft picks, end up playing themselves out on the field. In other scenarios, teams use training camp to escape drama off the field. For teams like Detroit and Pittsburgh, they'll be looking to put some off season problems behind them...
It was considered the highest priority for the Lions coming into this years draft.
They had to get a cornerback.
When round one came and went without a cornerback being drafted, the fans were a little disgruntled. They would have preferred to see one of the premium names they had coveted for the last few months fall to the Lions, but most fans satisfied themselves with the notion...
The Detroit Lions have signed six of their eight draft picks to four-year deals.
Offensive tackle Riley Reiff (first round) and cornerback Dwight Bentley (third round) hadn't signed contracts by Thursday. Both are expected to participate in the team's three-day rookie minicamp that starts Friday.
Detroit has signed wide receiver Ryan Broyles, defensive end Ronnell Lewis...

The Detroit Lions made significant strides in 2011, but have failed to make the necessary steps to build upon their playoff run. This draft class was an opportunity fill some holes, especially on defense, but GM Martin Mayhew failed to land any impact players on the defensive side of the ball.
Riley Reiff could have been a justifiable 1st-round pick if he filled an immediate need...
