The Texas Rangers have claimed injured left-handed pitcher Edwar Cabrera on waivers from the Colorado Rockies.
Cabrera didn't pitch last season because of an injured left shoulder, and had surgery July 10. He was on the Rockies' 60-day disabled list, and was transferred to the Rangers' 60-day DL.
His only major league action was two starts for the Rockies in 2012. Since...

Edwar Cabrera, LHP Colorado | Placed on the 60-day disabled list in mid-February with shoulder impingement, Cabrera is now targeting an early June return to action (missed his original eligibility date). The 25-year old had a legit opportunity to earn a rotation spot out of spring training prior to the injury, this despite getting shelled in his...
I had the pleasure of
getting to speak briefly with Tampa Yankees’ right fielder, Kelvin De Leon. He
was signed by the Yankees as an International Free Agent on the July 2nd
signing date in 2007. After a very impressive 2008 campaign in the Dominican
Summer League, he made his jump to the United States in 2009 as a member of the
Gulf Coast League Yankees. Always...
I often like to say that success is the result of talent meeting opportunity. That’s what makes Kris Medlen‘s breakout so surprising.
The talent has always been there. After a late start to his pitching career (he was converted to the position in college), Medlen has quickly mastered his craft. His control has always been impeccable, walking just 2.13 batters per nine innings...

This midweek edition of Rockies notes recaps Tuesday's scores with news and notes from all around the organization. In the minors, top prospect Nolan Arenado is struggling. In the majors, Jason Giambi hits the DL with an infection and Edwar Cabrera makes his 2nd big league start.
This weekend in D.C., the Washington Nationals have the chance to make history. For the first time since 2005 when they were made up of the remnants of the veteran Montreal Expos, the Nationals (48-32) could finish at or above the 50 game mark before the All-Star break. They will try to take those wins from the Colorado Rockies (31-51), who have already achieved the opposite feat...
After nine seasons and 72 more games into a 10th, Bob Apodaca had enough.
The job of being a pitching coach is challenging at any level. Toss in the wild and wacky world of Coors Field, and, well, Apodaca decided, enough was enough.
"I'm fried," he said.
Apodaca asked to be reassigned within the Colorado Rockies organization and was moved into the role of special...

Edwar Cabrera was in the Colorado Rockies' clubhouse Tuesday, and while no official announcement was made, the 24-year-old left-hander is expected to make his major league debut with a start Wednesday against the Washington Nationals. Manager Jim Tracy did say that Josh Outman would start Thursday rather than Wednesday. Thursday had been the turn for Alex White, but he was...
After leading the minor league in strikeouts in 2011, Edwar Cabrera has looked good in AA for the Colorado Rockies, though he has not been fanning hitters at the same rate with 68 strikeouts in 83 innings of work. He has posted a 3.25 ERA with a .192 batting average against thanks to a devastating changeup. He has been victimized by the long ball this season with 14 home runs...
It's time to get the youth some experience in 2012.The Memorial Day doubleheader sweep of the Houston Astros by the Colorado Rockies gave the few remaining believers hope.In reality, however, this team has dug itself such a huge hole that the dream of climbing out of it and back into contention is extremely unrealistic. Crazy things happen sometimes, but just because it has happened...
