The Blue Jays plan to use Edwin Encarnacion all over the diamond next season.
The infielder who mostly was the designated hitter for Toronto last season played 36 games at third base and 25 at first, along with 70 as the DH.

The Toronto Blue Jays have picked up their $3.5 million contract option on infielder Edwin Encarnacion for next season and declined an option on reliever Jon Rauch.
The 28-year-old Encarnacion appeared in 134 games as a third baseman, first baseman and designated hitter last season. He hit .272 with 36 doubles, 17 home runs and 55 RBIs.

Blue Jays pick up option on INF Encarnacion
The Toronto Blue Jays have picked up infielder Edwin Encarnacion's $3.5 million option for next season.
The club also declined their option on right-handed reliever Jon Rauch.
Encarnacion, 28, hit .272 with 17 homers, 36 doubles and 55 RBIs in 134 games last season.
Rauch went 5-4 with 11 saves and a 4.85 ERA in 53 games out of the bullpen.
