Curry to start for Raiders on Sunday
Share:
Curry's prospects took a sudden turn Friday when coach Hue Jackson announced that the first-round pick in the 2009 draft will replace Quentin Groves in the Raiders' starting defense at home against the Cleveland Browns.
Curry has just 5 1/2 career sacks, but believes the Raiders defense is better suited to his skills.

Roger Goodell Suspends Retired NFL LB Eric Barton
The Pimp hand of Roger Goodell is strong. So strong that even if you aren’t playing Goodell will still suspend you just because he can.
It is one thing to suspend a free agent who wants to play in the NFL again, but suspending someone who is officially retired is pretty funny and utterly meaningless.
In an interesting twist, the NFL has suspended former Oakland Raiders linebacker...

NFL Suspends Ex-Browns LB Eric Barton A Month After He Already Retired
In an interesting twist, the NFL has suspended former Browns linebacker Eric Barton for four games. What makes the move so interesting is that Barton retired a month ago. Barton had fun with the report on Twitter. Suspended me from what I retired a month ago, he wrote. GODell is now suspending retired players? wow! Barton was among a number of free agents suspended by Goodell...

Cotchery Takes up for Old Teammates
Kristian Dyer has an article written in the NY Metro, in which Dyer checks in on Cotchery’s progress from offseason surgery (he’s doing well) but also asks about how Rex has characterized some former players and teammates of Cotchery’s. In the book, Ryan wasn’t exactly kind to Chris Baker and Eric Barton.
“But me, personally, I can remember in 2005 when I was a young...

Seasoned Coaches, Unseasoned Talent
As mentioned the other day in our offseason recap, new Browns head coach Pat Shurmur has picked Dick Jauron and Ray Rhodes to lead the defense.
Both Jauron and Rhodes have a lot of experience — and so did the Browns defense, until now.
Recently, the team released six players, including Shaun Rogers, Kenyon Coleman, Eric Barton and David Bowens — four seasoned veterans.

That is pretty much all we know as the Browns made headlines cutting Shaun Rogers, Kenyon Coleman, Eric Barton, David Bowens and Robert...

Cleveland Browns make smart move in cutting Shaun Rogers
Earlier today ESPN reported that the Browns had cut six players. They were Shaun Rogers, Eric Barton, David Bowens, Robert Royal, and John St. Clair. All of these players are veterans and are likely being cut to open up space for younger players.
The biggest name, obviously, is Shaun Rogers, but cutting him is a good move for the Browns.
Besides Shaun Rogers, the rest of the players...
