What happened to the Browns running game?

BEREA, Ohio - The Browns formula for success this season was running the ball and setting up the play-action pass. The Browns rushed for over 100 yards as a team in four of their first five games. Earlier in the season, the Browns ranked in the top five in rushing offense averaging nearly 150 yards a game. The Browns have slumped to being the 20th overall offense and 18th in rushing...

It was only a matter of time, but the Cleveland Browns have waived kicker Billy Cundiff. Though converting all 28 of is point after attempts (and having his coach’s support), Cundiff had become as unreliable as quarterback Brian Hoyer, missing five field goals in the team’s last five games. Taking his place will be long-time New Orleans Saints kicker Garrett Hartley. Hartley...

Lions Work Out Kickers Rob Bironas, Alex Henery, & Garrett Hartley On Tuesday

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Lions hosted a number of veteran kickers for workouts on Tuesday including Rob Bironas, Alex Henery, and Garrett Hartley. This comes as little surprise given that rookie Nate Freese has struggled mightily in just two games. He’s already missed three of five field goal attempts and wasn’t exactly all that impressive during this summer’s...

Welcome to Atlanta Falcons Hate Week: Part One

As I’m finishing up on this it is 12:17 PM on Sunday, August 31, 2014.  In exactly one week from this moment I’ll be sitting in front of my TV like every other Saints fan, wondering why the NFL feels the need to take commercial breaks between the inevitable touchback on opening kickoff and the first snap of the Saints’...

Saints still struggling to get it right at kicker

I don’t want to make a federal case out of Shayne Graham missing a field goal in a meaningless preseason game, but i’m concerned. Yes, I know it was really an extra point, but from 33 yards out it’s basically a field goal. That kick would have been good from 17 yards out because it wouldn’t have had a change to curve out to the left upright from that distance. Still, Graham...

In honor of FIFA World Cup, best kickers in Saints’ history

With Thursday’s all important World Cup match between the United States and Germany in part determining who moves onto the knockout round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, I was wondering about the evolution of the kicker position in the NFL. Of course I knew the “soccer style” of kicking the football had become the common technique for NFL kickers long ago. Upon researching further...

New Orleans Saints may be planning to draft a kicker

I hear your groans Who Dat Nation. Trust me, the last thing I want to see is the Saints essentially waste one of their valuable picks on a position that sees more turnover in employment than a small-market TV station. But right now the only place kickers (i.e. the guy that kicks field goals) on their roster are veteran Shayne Graham and a rookie by the name of Derek Demke. The 24...

Saints re-sign kicker Shayne Graham

The New Orleans Saints have re-signed kicker Shayne Graham to a one-year contract. Picked up mid-season Graham took over the role of Garrett Hartley. The 36-year-old Graham was 6-of-6 before missing from 45 and 48 yards in the Saints Divisional Round loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The only other kicker the Saints have is Derek Dimke  who is signed to a futures deal.

Saints Nation's Top 10 Plays of the 2013 Season: #8 Marques Colston's Catch at Bucs on Final Drive

The eighth best play of 2013 was a vintage Marques Colston 31 yard catch with 17 seconds left that set up Garrett Hartley's game winning field goal in Tampa Bay at the buzzer. The kick sealed a 16-14 win in week 2. You'll remember the Saints were in control of a sterile contest 13-7 that was briefly suspended by lightning until Drew Brees threw a horrible pick six right into the...

Wild Card Weekend redux: Rise of the road teams
