That’s A Wrap: Tom Crean
Welcome to “That’s A Wrap,” our recap of the 2012-2013 Indiana Hoosiers. Today: Head coach Tom Crean.
Tom Crean knew the Indiana job would be a challenge when he accepted it some five years ago. He had to rebuild the program from the very bottom, and he successfully restored it to a place where the Hoosiers could be the No. 1 ranked team in the preseason.
What Crean has accomplished...

Five takeaways from Indiana’s loss at Illinois
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — After leading by 14 points on two separate occasions, Indiana couldn’t hold on Thursday night at Assembly Hall and the No. 1 Hoosiers dropped their second conference game 74-72 to Illinois. The loss moved IU into a three-way tie with Michigan and Michigan State for the Big Ten lead.
Here’s a look at five takeaways from IU’s loss to the Fighting Illini:

Five takeaways from Indiana’s loss to Wisconsin
Indiana never truly found its footing on Wednesday night as the Hoosier dropped a 64-59 decision to Wisconsin at Assembly Hall. The win moved the Badgers into outright first place in the race for the Big Ten title and dropped the Hoosiers into a five-way tie for 2nd place.
Here’s a look at five takeaways from IU’s first conference loss:

Wisconsin loss is alarming, but no reason to overreact
Let’s begin with what matters the most: This is not the end of the world.
There will undoubtedly be people that overreact to No. 2 Indiana’s 64-59 home loss to Wisconsin on Tuesday night. It was an unranked Wisconsin team, after all, and the Hoosiers were playing at home. This isn’t the same Indiana team that had lost 10 consecutive games to the Badgers. This team was supposed...

Hoosiers working to incorporate Elston, Mosquera-Perea, Hollowell
Much of the preseason talk about Indiana centered on the team’s anticipated depth. The Hoosiers added a highly-touted freshman class to a roster full of returning veterans from last year’s Sweet 16 team.
But so far this season, No. 5 Indiana really hasn’t been that deep. Due to issues with the NCAA and an injury to senior Derek Elston, the Hoosiers are still in the process...

The Minute After: Jacksonville
Thoughts on a 93-59 win against the Dolphins:
I. Though Indiana eventually won this game by 34 points (Jacksonville actually covered the 36-point spread thanks to a late 3-pointer), it was a slow burn to get up the that mark. The Dolphins trailed by a respectable 15 at half and Indiana didn’t punch the lead to 30 until the 8:52 mark of the second half. They were able to keep it...

The Minute After: Florida Atlantic
Thoughts on an 88-52 win against the Owls:
I. This was the performance from Cody Zeller some were waiting for. Getting the ball early. Attacking. Making moves in the post and looking to finish strong. Even hitting a 16-footer. Couple this with his typical scores on the break, and it lead to a season-high 24 points in 22 minutes. To top it off? The Washington product, who has had...
The Minute After: Mount St Mary’s
Thoughts on a 93-54 win over the Mountaineers:
I. The naton’s most efficient offense was on full display tonight inside Assembly Hall. Mount St. Mary’s — as previously detailed round these parts — offers little resistance in the halfcourt once you get past its trapping defense. Indiana connected on 72 percent of its shots in the first half, including 5-of-6 from distance...
Film Session: Butler’s post-halftime scoring
Butler exposed Indiana’s defense at times in its 88-86 overtime win against the Hoosiers. This was especially apparent after halftime, as the Bulldogs pumped in 1.28 points per possession during the second half and overtime at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday. Indiana had done a strong job so far this season at limiting 3-point makes, but Butler connected on 50 percent (6-of...
Clark Kellogg on Indiana player: “He’s packed like a box of fried rice”
Clark Kellogg is one of the most descriptive sports announcers on TV.When describing Indiana’s freshmen forward, Hanner Mosquera-Perea, who was making his debut with the Hoosiers, Kellog said he’s “packed like a box of fried rice. He’s tight!”An audience on a cooking show may expect to hear something like this but certainly not one watching basketball.
Butler-Indiana Preview
No. 1 Indiana, which has been playing short-handed all season, is getting reinforcements.
On Saturday, 6-foot-8 forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea and 7-foot center Peter Jurkin are expected to make their college debuts after completing an NCAA-imposed nine-game suspension. All the Hoosiers have to do now is figure out how to work the two freshmen into the lineup against in-state rival...

Hoosiers playing well, but the best is yet to come
Through its first nine games, Indiana has lived up to the preseason narrative that placed the Hoosiers at the top of the national polls.
They’ve done it by grinding out a pair of wins at the Barclays Center to win the Legends Classic, burying North Carolina in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge and pounding the six other opponents that have entered Assembly Hall.
And it’s not just the...
Notebook: Indiana preparing to blend in Mosquera-Perea, Jurkin
Indiana’s front line could receive a significant boost in Saturday’s game with Butler when freshmen Hanner Mosquera-Perea and Peter Jurkin will be eligible to play for the first time after serving a nine-game suspension from the NCAA.
With the Hoosiers sitting at 9-0 and No. 1 in the country while playing at a high level, it sounds as if both guys could be worked slowly into...

NCAA upholds Hoosiers suspensions
Two players for No. 1 Indiana have lost their appeals for reduced suspensions.
Freshman forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea and freshman center Peter Jurkin must sit out the remaining four games of their nine-game suspensions including Tuesday night's showdown with No. 9 North Carolina.
The NCAA ruled Nov. 6 both players would have to sit out after accepting benefits from an AAU...
