Wes Saunders suspended four games
UPDATE: Well, that didn’t take long for the Jags to be even bigger losers than usual. We had our money on Wes testing positive for weed. It looks like it was a banned substance that showed up. We still don’t know what substance exactly, so this could be anything from steroids to cold meds…come on, Nyquil.
The Young Money receivers are going to have to survive the...

Does Tight End Position Become A Draft Need Now In Light Of Saunders Possible Suspension?
While we await more detailed word on the status of Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Wesyle Saunders following the report that he has been suspended for the first four games of the 2012 season, it definitely throws the thought into ones head that the tight end position could now end up being a possible need in the upcoming 2012 draft in April.
Four games is of course a quarter of the...

Pittsburgh at Denver: Under the Radar Players
Every year in the playoffs the winning teams get contributions from not only their stars, but players who hovered underneath the radar. Because coaches are so obsessed with taking away what the opposition does best, the opportunity for lesser known players to shine is there for the taking. This is especially true in the game between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers. ...

Heath Miller Passes Lynn Swann for Fourth All Time on Steelers Receptions List
Steelers Tight End Heath Miller made 2 catches today for 23 yards as the Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns. Those two catches gave Miller 337 for his career. That pushed him one past Hall Of Famer Lynn Swann on the Steelers all time list. Heading into next season Miller is only 21 catches behind Louis Lipps to become third on the list. He should easily pass that mark next season.

Steelers WR Hines Ward, TE Heath Miller Look For Milestone Catches Vs Browns
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward's pursuit of 1,000 career catches has been well documented. It ends, at least for this season, today. Ward needs five catches to become the eighth player in NFL history with at least 1,000 receptions. ... Tight end Heath Miller needs two catches to pass Lynn Swann and move into fourth place on the Steelers' all-time receptions list...

Five Steelers named to 2012 Pro Bowl roster
The NFL announced Pro Bowl rosters tonight and a few Steelers were honored. Ben Roethlisberger, Maurkice Pouncey, Mike Wallace will represent the Steelers on offense. Troy Polamalu is the lone representative for the defense and, surprisingly, Antonio Brown is the AFC's starting KR. Pouncey and Polamalu are 'starters.' Brown is a little bit of a surprise. A few other Steelers...

Heath Miller passes new milestone
Heath Miller with his first catch in the game against the 49ers now has the most receptions for a tight end in Steelers history. He was tied with Elbie Nickel prior to that catch. He now is at 4th in all time receptions for the Steelers. With 6 more receptions he will pass Hall of Famer Lynn Swann. That’s quite an accomplishment for Heath with a long career still ahead of him.

Steelers Miller Awarded For The Fundamentals
Heath Miller is fundamental. Courtesy zimbio.com
A few days ago our own Heath Miller was named to the 2011 USA Football All Fundamentals Team. HUH? OK so it’s not the Pro Bowl, or the All Madden Team, and by Google standards it not even worth an automatic search fill in, but it’s a nice nod to Heath nonetheless.

High Ankle Spains Complicate Chase For AFC North Crown
Looks like I'm guilty of a little blog neglect.Don't have much in the way of illumination from the two wins over four days last week. The victory over Cincy was as decisive and encouraging as the win over Cleveland was not. Don't want to bemoan the lack of style points in the Thursday win. The Steelers actually played that game well and Roethlisberger looked as sharp...

Heath Miller tied for 5th in Steelers all time receiving
When Ben Roethlisberger is scrambling around and in trouble on the field he relies heavily on the sure hands of tight end Heath Miller. Miller has now past a pretty significant milestone, he now sits tied for 5th place on the Steelers all time receptions list. He has tied the other tight end high on the list, Elbie Nickel. Heath’s next reception will place him as the...

Heath Miller Could Surpass The Great Elbie Nickel Tonight With 3 Catches
With three receptions tonight against the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller will surpass the great Elbie Nickel for the most receptions by a tight end in Steelers history. Miller currently has 327 for his career and Nickel had 329 during his 11 seasons with the Steelers from 1947-1957. Nickel compiled his record amount of receptions in 131 regular season...

Week 13 TE Rankings: Can Anyone Stop Rob Gronkowski?
For the majority of the 2012 season, the TE position has been a bit pedestrian compared to last year.
One TE, however, who does not fall on that list is Rob Gronkowski unless—I presume—the opposing team sends in a spy, slips the wrong plane ticket into his travel bag, or uses the memory eraser thingy in Men in Black.
Wow that was pretty bad, huh? See what happens when I take...

Heath Miller Set To Break Steelers TE Record
When Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians implored his unit Wednesday to focus on team goals rather than individual accolades, veteran tight end Heath Miller likely didn't need the reminder. Heath Miller Should Have Big Week Against Chiefs
Heath Miller should be a big part of the Steelers offense this week against the Chiefs. In the Chiefs last 4 games they have 14 catches to tight ends. Four of those have gone for touchdowns. This stat should really be the last 3 games because the game versus Denver where Tim Tebow threw the ball 8 times should not count.
New England struggled in the first half against the Chiefs...

Back in First Place. STEELERS WIN.
All right, there have been prettier wins. Fortunately, this is Pittsburgh and I don't think anyone cares about being pretty as long as they get it done in the end. Last week, the defense didn't make the plays it had to at the end of the game to win. This week, they did. The defense looked old a couple of times during the game, but they got the late turnover to put the game...

The Steelers pulled out a win versus the Bengals today to take a 7-3 record in to the bye week. The Steelers will be no worse then second in the AFC North and most likely no worse then 3rd in the AFC. The Steelers look to be in good position on the way to the playoffs. Here is what I saw in today’s game.
