Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray won’t be in the best position possible when the NHL draft is held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on June 27, but I’m sure he’s pretty happy with his team’s draft position. The Sabres will have the second pick overall to continue rebuilding a hockey team that can only improve upon last season’s 21-52-10...
The Buffalo Sabres announced on March 31 that Ted Nolan has been officially hired as the club’s head coach. Nolan has been in serving as coach on an interim basis after being hired earlier in the season on November 13 to replace former coach Ron Rolston. The NHL team added that Nolan has signed a new three-year contract extension. Nolan said he’s excited about staying...

This should be a busy day for Tim Murray as there a number of players to keep an eye on.
The ones I can see getting traded today are:
Christian Ehrhoff/Tyler Myers
If you read last week’s column then you already know how I feel about the Olympics… If not, they’re officially over, WOO-HOO! Despite my self-admitted disinterest in the Olympics, international hockey is the one sport I do enjoy watching during this time of year. I was rather annoyed/bummed, as I’m sure most of you were, when team USA put up a goose egg in the semi-finals...
Sweden is even more short-handed in the Olympic hockey gold-medal game.
Nicklas Backstrom wasn't in uniform when the Swedes played Canada on Sunday. They dressed an extra defenseman, Henrik Tallinder, to take his place against the Canadians.
It was not announced why the standout forward didn't play. He was listed on the lineups handed out before the game.

Sweden’s offense has been dealt another major blow. Nicklas Backstrom was initially included on the team’s lineup for the gold medal game against Canada, but he didn’t participate in the pregame warmups and has now officially been scratched, per the Chicago Sun-Times’ Mark Lazerus.
Defenseman Henrik Tallinder has been selected to fill the vacant roster spot.
If Sweden wins...
Olympic hockey is almost here. The first games are Wednesday at noon, but the U.S. won't play until Thursday morning.
Of all the Sabres players in Sochi, Ryan Miller is the obvious one to watch, especially if he gets the start.
Jhonas Enroth and Henrik Tallinder will represent Sweden, while Zemgus Girgensons will represent Latvia. Team USA won't face either of those...
from Dan Rosen of NHL.com,
Entering his third Olympics, Kronwall understands how much his role has changed even from 2010, when he was an 18-minute per game defenseman but still more of a role player on a team that featured Nicklas Lidstrom.
He's the sixth-oldest player on Sweden's 23-man roster behind Daniel Alfredsson, Henrik Tallinder, Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin...
The Sabres did not have a morning skate today due to the weather.
The Sabres will be sending a few more to the Olympics. Ted Nolan and Zemgus Girgensons will be on Team Latvia, while Henrik Tallinder and Jhonas Enroth will play for Sweden.

The Sabres’ emotional 3-1 victory in Ted Nolan’s debut as interim coach Nov. 15 is starting to feel like a distant memory.Yes, the Sabres have been showcasing a better compete level at times. Yes, they’re starting games much better. But the bottom-feeding club has been outscored 15-5 in four straight losses since beating Toronto. The Sabres, who have an NHL-low five wins and...
The Sabres, who’ve toppled at the slightest of breezes all season, stood toe-to-toe with an NHL hurricane Tuesday night. Buffalo and San Jose traded roundhouse blows and devastating counterpunches, a fight the Sabres had yet to deliver and one San Jose certainly could not have expected.
When it ended, the Sabres won more than just a game.
Buffalo earned a 5-4 shootout victory...
The Buffalo Sabres blew a pair of third-period leads and benefited from an apparent blown call in overtime before finally coming out on top in the shootout.
It's been that hard to get wins this season for Buffalo.
Cody Hodgson scored in the fourth round of the shootout and Ryan Miller made 47 saves to give the Sabres their third win in 17 games this season, 5-4 over the San...

from Ken Campbell of The Hockey News,
So Sabres fans, particularly those who have been chanting, “Fire Darcy!” at every Sabres home game, it would probably be best if you got used to it. It appears now that instead of firing Regier, Pegula has handed the GM the keys to the station wagon after Regier has accidently driven it in a demolition derby.
The Sabres, it appears...
After missing four games with a shoulder injury, Henrik Tallinder returned to the lineup Monday night for the Buffalo Sabres.
The veteran defensemen spent the last three seasons in New Jersey before returning to Buffalo via trade this summer. Tallinder had spent the first eight years of his career with the Sabres.
So far this season, Tallinder’s impact on the Sabres has not come...
Sabres coach Ron Rolston has eight D-men in Buffalo right now. He only needs 7.
Henrik Tallinder will be making his return to the Buffalo lineup tonight after missing the past few games due to an upper body injury. Tallinder will skate with Tyler Myers. Hopefully Hank can help Myers to settle down and remind him to clean up his turnovers and to stop getting caught up ice after rushes are do...

Over the last couple seasons Pete DeBoer has been one of the better coach's in the NHL.
He took a team many projected to miss the playoffs to the Stanley Cup Final in his first year with the New Jersey Devils. Then this past season he kept a team decimated by injuries in the playoff hunt for most of the year.
I have to say it's been really nice to see good guy Henrik Tallinder back on the ice in a Buffalo Sabres practice sweater. The former Sabres D has proven that you can go home again. Tallinder signed as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils. His hair has thinned a bit and he's showing a few grey hairs in his predominantly dirty blonde mane.
He's three years older...
