Jay Gibbons Effective At Imitating Manny Ramirez
When the coaches told Jay Gibbons to "go out there and be Manny", they didn't think he would try to imitate his defense as well.
I overlooked every time he would turn a routine fly ball into a potential inside the park home run because his OPS was over 1.000, but yesterday's performance was too hilarious to ignore.

Jay Gibbons Is Back, Pods Declines Option
Jay Gibbons signed a small $200,000 1 year contract to come back to the Dodgers, most likely in a bench role, unless he shows something in Spring Training that forces the Dodgers hand. I personally like the deal, he’s worth a lot more and I was surprised that he signed for such a small amount but it shows he has a lot of loyalty for the Dodgers since they gave him the shot...

Introduce Yourself, Jay Gibbons
You may be only vaguely familiar with the name (unless you’re a die-hard Orioles fan), but Jay Gibbons certainly made a loud introduction for the Dodgers and their fans on Tuesday by making going 3-4 with a HR in his first major league start since 2007.
Gibbons is 33 years old and actually was preparing the last couple of years to become a college coach, but a return to health...

Keeping Up With The Gibbons
Maybe it's because of the chimpanzee we keep around the SoSG offices, but we can't get enough of Jay Gibbons. Or at least, I can't get enough of Jay Gibbons. Which made today's LATimes feature article on Gibbons, by multimedia superstar Dylan Hernandez, a nice treat:

Playing Into Future Plans- Jay Gibbons
Once upon a time back in 2000 Jay Gibbons was a Rule 5 selection by the Baltimore Orioles that went on to have a handful of productive seasons with them until completely falling down and off the map after 2007. He played decent enough defense in the outfield and at firstbase, hit for pop, and especially lit up the team that let him go (Toronto Blue Jays- 19 homeruns against). However...

Long Overdue: Dodgers Designate Castro, Gibbons For Assignment
I thought someone was playing a practical joke or something. Because for the first time in so long I saw a roster move that made a ridiculous amount of sense. The Dodgers announced today that they designated Jay Gibbons and Juan Castro for assignment. This was so long overdue, I don't know what the thinking was with keeping these guys around. There is no shortage of options or...

It's funny, reading Tony Jackson's headline, Gibbons hopes contact issue solved over at ESPN.com. Could this be about Jay Gibbons' horrible spring 2011, in which he's batting 2-for-22 (.091) with 5 Ks? No, it's not that contact; it's a contact lens:
