Bisons Recover To Win After Blowing Save

Even when the Bisons have won during their recent slump, they have managed to almost give games away. Tuesday was a perfect example as Buffalo blew a two-run lead in the 9th inning before coming back to rally for a 5-4 win in 11 innings over Indianapolis. Buffalo twice led on the night but closer Fernando Cabrera couldn’t hold onto the lead in the 9th, allowing one run after replacing...

Evolution of a Trade: Bartolo Colon and the Cleveland Indians

When I started 85% Sports, one of my first columns was Evolution of a Trade, where I’d look at a player that was dealt and all of the subsequent moves as a result of the deal. I think the first one was how Mark Mulder brought the A’s Michael Taylor (using players such as Dan Haren, Matt Holliday, and others). Well, I’ve started the column back up. But I’m adding a few things...

Bisons Pitching Woes Continue As They Fall To Pawtucket

Buffalo scratched and clawed to try and get back into the game, but they failed to come up in the clutch far too often as they eventually fell to the Pawtucket Red Sox 9-6 Saturday at Coca-Cola Field. The loss was Buffalo’s 5th in their last 6 outings. Right from the first pitch, Buffalo’s pitching was not very could, and it continued a trend of poor pitching that has hurt this...

Mets Farm Report: 4/12/12

BUFFALO BISONS AAA The Bisons got corralled Thursday afternoon by a score of 7-2 at the hands of the SWB Yankees in Buffalo. A three-run second off Chris Schwinden, and a three-run seventh off Jeff Stevens would provide the Yankees with all the scoring they would need, and they added a solo homer by Steve Pearce off Daniel Herrera in the fifth. Schwinden who struggled mightily with...

Turn the Mets Around

The Mets are only enlisting a “turnaround consultant” now? Where was this service in September 2007? August 2002? May 1993? June 1977? The Mets have definitely been in need of a few sharp 180s in their storied history. You’d figure they’d have a “turnaround consultant” on call 24/7. The “turnaround” in question isn’t directly baseball-related, though I guess a sturdy...

Mets sign Wimberly and Stevens to MiLB

Adam Rubin reports that the Mets have signed RHP Jeff Stevens and Utility player Corey Wimberly to minor league deals.  Both appear destine for Buffalo but Stevens did make it up for 10 appearances with the Cubs last year and Wimberly was a candidate for the Pirates bench out of spring training.
