JEFF WEAVER NEWS

In Which We Sing the Praises of Jeff Weaver

Thanks to Dusty for the tip: The Dodgers have signed Jeff Weaver to an $800,000 minor-league deal. Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports calls Weaver "unsung," but fans who followed the Dodgers last season know Weaver's worth. Consider his 2009 regular-season performance: 7 starts 6 wins (3.13 ERA) 21 relief appearances (3.99 ERA) 108 ERA+ a career-high 7.3 K/9 rate Weaver was asked to fill...

With all that was going on this morning (Photo Day, eye exams, uniform sizing, lab work), the best moment of the day came when Dodger hurler Jeff Weaver returned to camp with news of a happy, healthy baby boy named Drake. After Manny left last night’s game @ Cincinnati with a calf injury, the Dodgers decided to place him on the 15-day DL effective today. The news couldn’t come at a worse time. Manny has been swinging a hot bat as of late batting .415 with 12 RBI and two home-run (including a two-run go-ahead shot in last week’s series finale over the Giants). The move means Los Angeles will...

In Another Minor League Deal For The Dodgers, Jeff Weaver Re-Ups

Tim Brown tweets that the Dodgers have re-signed Jeff Weaver to a minor league deal. It's hard to imagine that this was the best he could get, but his history is spotty.

Paying respect to Mike Sweeney and his mighty temper (Video)

Mike Sweeney was the type of player who was always regarded as one of the nicest guys; a great clubhouse guy who was always genuine with his teammates.  But if anyone tried to double cross him, they quickly learned that the big fella had quite the temper — just ask Jeff Weaver or the entire 2010 Seattle Mariners team. To honor the once prolific slugger, we decided that it would...

Jeff Weaver to re-sign with Dodgers

Former Yankee bum Jeff Weaver is set to sign a minor league deal with the Dodgers. It’s mind boggling how Joe Torre can trust that clown after what he went through in 2003. Especially since Jeff isn’t even the best pitcher in his own family.

Jeff Weaver Wants To Pitch At Least One More Season

Jeff Weaver told Dylan Hernandez of The Los Angeles Times that he wants to pitch at least one more season, and would prefer to do so with the Dodgers (Twitter link). The 34-year-old has spent the last two seasons with the team, his second stint in Chavez Ravine. Working exclusively in relief, Weaver's posted unimpressive totals of 5.4 K/9 and 4.3 BB/9 to go along with his 4...

Playoff notes: Weavers pull for L.A.-L.A. Series

When Jeff Weaver came out of the Los Angeles Dodgers' bullpen into a sticky bases-loaded situation Wednesday night, his little brother down in Orange County was probably even more jittery.

The Los Angeles Dodgers place Jeff Weaver on the D.L.

The Dodgers have placed righty reliever Jeff Weaver on the 15-day disabled list with a case of lower back tightness. Weaver has pitched in 9 games (0 starts) for the Dodgers this season and he is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. The Dodgers will likely miss him as he can pitch multiple innings in outings. The Dodgers have activated lefty reliever Hong Chih-Kuo from the D.L...

2011 American League West Pitching Preview: Jered Weaver & The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Last season, the Angels lost their normal perch atop the AL West and their annual trip to the postseason; things really don’t look too much better this season.  The rest of the AL either caught up or passed the Angels over the last year, and I’m not sure the addition of Vernon Wells is going to be enough to overcome the slide.  True, Kendry Morales will hopefully be fully...

Jeff Weaver’s Back to Being Blue

It took a while, but Jeff Weaver has finally stepped in from the rain. Yesterday, he rejoined the Dodgers, but not on a Major League deal; oh no, on a minor league deal.
