Roenick says MacKinnon is more dominant at 18 than Crosby was

When any player scores six points in two playoff games (and three in each respective contest), people get excited. When that guy is 18 years old and those two postseason contests rank as his first two games, the praise gets downright bold. Maybe it shouldn’t be surprising that Colorado Avalanche wunderkind Nathan MacKinnon inspired Jeremy Roenick to throw the words “Hall of...

Revisiting The 1988 NHL Draft

Jeremy Roenick or Teemu Selanne? That is the question. As Teemu Selanne plays his final regular season game this weekend, its a perfect time to revisit the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. Heading into the draft, the Blackhawks held the 8th overall pick. With that 8th overall pick, the Blackhawks selected a guy from Boston, Massachusetts named Jeremy Roenick. The guy who the Blackhawks passed...

One-on-One with a Chicago Blackhawks Legend, Jeremy Roenick

Evergreen Park – At a recent Binny’s Beverage Depot appearance, Marc-Louis Paprzyca and Corey York had the honor of taking some time to interview Blackhawks legend Jeremy Roenick. In the storied history of the Chicago Blackhawks not many names are elevated to quite the same heights as JR’s. Always known for his passion and fiery attitude on the ice, he has brought that same...

NBC's Eddie Olczyk wants to coach again

I don't have any scientific evidence on this, but hockey people tend to stay in the booth when they leave playing or coaching to become broadcasters. Sure, there are rumors of Pierre McGuire being in the conversation to run a team, and a connection between Jeremy Roenick and a potential Seattle expansion franchise. However, the NHL on NBC's main broadcast team has been together...

Jeremy Roenick says you can’t win with Alex Ovechkin

Jeremy Roenick played for five teams during his 18 seasons in the NHL, so it’s fair to say that he has some level of expertise about the fine folks who strap on skates and play the game. It’s also fair to say that Roenick is not a fan of Alex Ovechkin. Roenick penned a post for his Web site, titled “Can You Win With A Guy Like Ovechkin?” and answered the question right off...

Chicago Blackhawks legend Jeremy Roenick trashes Jay Cutler

Jeremy Roenick is one of the most beloved athletes in Chicago sports history. The former Blackhawks Center and NBC Sports NHL analyst was a favorite with fans and media due to his outgoing, affable and colorful personality. Bears QB Jay Cutler, on the other hand, has a reputation (whether deserved or not) for extreme apathy, insouciance and surliness. Cutler led a Bears offense through...

NFL, NHL concussion cases are not the same

Three months after the NFL agreed on a $765 million settlement with thousands of ex-players for concussion-related health problems, a group of their NHL peers is going to court, too. Hockey has proven to be an equally dangerous sport as football, but that doesn't mean the link between collisions on the ice and post-career trouble will lead to a similar outcome. The legal and...

Roenick ‘slugs’ fan on golf course

One of the truest generalities in life is that when a man asks another man to punch him in the face, he usually gets punched in the face. Hockey has added some civilization to the idea, but there's still plenty of not-exactly-discouraged punching in hockey, which partially explains why a hockey fan would want to get punched by retired hockey player Jeremy Roenick. A group of...

NBC hockey analyst Jeremy Roenick was at Lake Tahoe last week for the Celebrity Golf Championship.  Apparently a group of fans following Roenick pleaded with him to punch a dude in the face.  Ever the gentleman, Roenick obliged with the request and punched a man in a Colorado Rockies hat very gingerly. It's only a matter of time until this happens when Roenick goes at it...
