The greatest trilogy in the history of pro wrestling kicked off 26 years ago today. On this date in 1989, Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair began a classic three-match series that remains one of the most influential rivalries in wrestling history.
For me, Jim Ross doing what he does (or at least, once did) better than anyone else in the wresting world once more was just as enticing as another round of Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada.
The fact that Jim Ross' blogs, mere written words on a plethora of subjects, amplify louder and resonate more than Cole's robotically-strung-together bowls of word soup makes it a crime that Ross was shunted down so far in favor of Cole in the first place.
Jim Ross has been talking for a while now on his website and Twitter that he would like the chance to broadcast MMA. Well, he’s getting his chance. JR will be on the call for the “Battlegrounds MMA” event that will air live on pay-per-view from Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 3. His broadcast partner for the one night, eight-man welterweight tournament will be none other than...
Welcome! With the arrival of the “Monday Night War” documentary series on the WWE Network, I decided to go back and watch the WWF pay-per-views (most of the Raws are not there yet) from the debut of Raw and beyond.
It has been reported by PWInsider.com and F4WOnline.com that long time WWE employee Mark Yeaton has been released from the company. Yeaton has been with company for decades and was the ringside timekeeper and bell ringer in that time. Other duties that Yeaton had in WWE included ordering and maintaining materials WWE used for the rings and other travel duties. PWInsider also reports...
The WWE titled Paul Heyman DVD, “Ladies and Gentlemen, My Name is Paul Heyman” comes out on August 5th. WrestlingDVDnews.com has released the opening of the DVD, which includes comments from the likes of Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Edge and Jim Ross. New Paul Heyman “2 Extreme” Authentic T-Shirt Now Available at WWEShop.com! The post The Introduction Of Paul Heyman’s DVD appeared...
I have a quick confession to make guys. I honestly cannot remember the last DVD I purchased. I’m not trying to be all hip here and tell you guys that it’s because I’ve converted to Blu-Ray either. There’s just so much great live MMA and pro wrestling content (plus Netflix) that I just don’t see any reason to buy more clutter that I’m never going to use. So I kind of found...
Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross talks about his podcast “The Ross Report“, it’s success and how he has liked doing it so far, the young talent in the WWE including Roman Reigns and the direction he hopes the company takes with him on his path to the world title. He also discusses whether or not he would be open to broadcasting for TNA Wrestling, what other broadcasting opportunities...
The TNA Wrestling roster continues to bleed as the promotion’s biggest stars exit stage right in 2014. It appears that the next man up is Kurt Angle. Angle’s deal is coming due in a few months and if it were up to him we will all be seeing him at WrestleMania 31.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back at home resting comfortably after a health scare that kept him in the hospital for a few days. It all started a few weeks ago with Ross putting in a lot of time and effort to prepare for his debut as a boxing broadcaster for Fox Sports which took place on Memorial Day. Things didn’t slow down as he then headed in Chicago to do media to promote...
Jim Ross on his most recent podcast in the preamble to his interview with Eric Bischoff (at 19:20 mark) suggests the creation of a “new” WWE Television Title. His choice as the eventual winner of this title decided through a multi-week tournament to crown the new champion is Dolph Ziggler. On the surface this seems like a heck of an idea. Ross goes on to suggest the title should...
Brian and Steve recap WWE Raw from Monday night with the strong point being Evolution against The Shield and a lot more lacking leading into Payback on Sunday, Daniel Bryan and the World Heavyweight Championship and where it stands now and when he could be back, bad comedy, mid-card feuds being filler, what is missing right now and much more. Plus, they talk about Jim Ross calling...
WWE rumors focusing on the return of Mr. WrestleMania Shawn Michaels. Rumors pointed to the WWE booking HBK at WrestleMania against his former student, yet HBK says those plans were more wishful than necessary.
Brian and Steve are back for a Monday podcast as they recap Smackdown including Sheamus facing Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns against Mark Henry and the Wyatt Family versus John Cena and The Usos. Plus, they talk about the WWE upcoming TV deal which could be announced later this week, Jim Ross returning to announcing, Dixie Carter getting baited on Twitter and more. Looking for awesome...
Jim Ross and the WWE parted ways in September with the company stating that Ross wanted to focus on “personal business endeavors.” The WWE Hall of Famer has kept himself busy since leaving the company as he has written articles for Fox Sports, started a podcast on Podcast One and started doing one man shows. The question Ross gets quite often is, if he will return to the broadcast...
TNA President Dixie Carter was last seen on Thursday’s edition of Impact Wrestling. Carter is currently feuding with Bully Ray on the show. It seems like though that Carter is trying to start a feud with someone not even involved with TNA. A fan on Twitter, whose account is a parody of WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross took a swipe at Carter. It's official, Chris Sabin is gone from @IMPACTWRESTLING...
The biggest story of the year thus far remains the end of The Undertaker’s WWE WrestleMania streak. Jim Ross and Shawn Michaels are the latest to offer up their insight, with HBK unraveling a big piece of the booking mystery.
Ring of Honor announced last week that they will be debuting on traditional pay-per-view on Sunday, June 22 in Nashville, Tennessee. We talk to ROH consultant Court Bauer as we discuss the company heading to PPV, how many PPV’s ROH will have in 2014, did the WWE Network help influence them to go in that direction. Bauer also discusses the latest on the Jim Ross shows, how many...
There are several pro wrestling podcasts, hosted by personalities from the business or journalists. I’ve listened to those. Not a huge fan. With that said, here are a few thoughts on the the premier wrestling podcasts, for those on the fence about jumping in and finally listening.
Although there's likely a vast ocean of these gems that could be mined, I decided to write about ten WWE moments that I recall with fondness.
Gorilla Monsoon (in toga) welcomes us to WWE WrestleMania IX, but this is, however, the first WrestleMania that he does not commentate for. Instead, the role is turned over to Jim Ross. This was shocking to Josh and I, who were more shocked to find J.R. in a toga.
WWE Hall of Fame play-by-play announcer good old JR, Jim Ross, performed his one-man show in New York City this past weekend. Ross held two shows; one was advertised at 4pm and the other at 8pm. I attended the so-called 4pm show and overall really enjoyed everything Ross had to say.
The WWE’s first Raw of the year is being dubbed “Old School”. Some of the names that will on the show are Ric Flair, Diamond Dallas Page, Ted DiBiase and Scotty Too Hotty. The biggest question has been whether Jim Ross would appear on the show. The WWE Hall of Famer answered that question today when a fan stated he hoped to see Ross on the show on Twitter. Hope to see @JRsBBQ...
