Down On The Farm: Week Of May 6 – Pederson, Stripling, von Schamann, Sanchez
Pitching was the story for the Dodgers‘ farm system this week, but one positional prospect stood out and was recognized for his great offensive performance.
It’s nice to see youngsters take advantage of their given opportunities.

Down On The Farm: Week Of April 22 & 29 – Van Slyke, Pederson, Rasmussen, Sweeney, Seager
There were some eye-popping performances in the Dodgers minor-league system the last couple weeks. I got to see three of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes games in person, which was awesome.
There are some guys below folks should keep eyes on this season. They could establish themselves as legitimate prospects with solid performances in 2013.

The Fringe Five for April 24, 2013
The Fringe Five, in case you’re wondering and also don’t know, is a weekly exercise (introduced last Tuesday) wherein the author utilizes regressed stats, scouting reports, and his own man-heart to identify and/or continue monitoring the most compelling fringe prospects in all of baseball.
“What precisely the hell do you mean by fringe?” a particularly combative reader might...

Dodgers' prospect Joc Pederson off to fantastic start in first Double-A stint
Joc Pederson has been one of my favorite prospects ever since the Dodgers were able to snag him in the 11th round of the 2010 draft. He made a brief appearance in the Southern League playoffs last season after playing the entire regular season in the California League.
Pederson is in his first full season in Double-A and, at age 21, is playing against competition significantly...
Introducing a Weekly Exercise: The Fringe Five
For more or less the entirety of his tenure at FanGraphs, the present author has made a habit of entwining his own wellbeing with the fate of this or that fringe player. There was, initially, a season-long love affair with Rangers right-hander Colby Lewis — not a prospect at the time, Lewis, but just returning to the United States (where he’d been unsuccessful) from Japan (where...
Dodgers Minor League Report - 4/12/13
Yasiel Puig with a triple, Joc Pederson with a homer and Dee Gordon collects four hits.
Dodgers Minor League Report - 4/5/13

Los Angeles Dodgers Top 20 Prospects
The Dodgers have really started to focus on their MLB team with the new ownership, so the improvements to the farm system might go un-noticed. Several prospects have taken steps forward, which was something they have struggled with the last few years.
Note: Avg ranking takes the average of any site I could find that had team rankings (sum of ranks divided by total sites). Comp ranking...
Making Moves: Winter Development Camp Sans Puig, Howell Signed, Minor Deals
The Dodgers have invited 12 players to their Winter Development Camp, which, after operating for its first five years of existence at Dodger Stadium, will move to Camelback Ranch due to construction at Chavez Ravine.

Dodgers' prospect videos: Onelki Garcia, Joc Pederson and Chris Reed
I wish I could take credit for these videos, but I can't. Instead, credit goes to Mike Newman of FanGraphs. He gets to see the Lookouts on a consistent basis, which is something I can't do all the way in California.
He posted three videos of Dodger prospects on Christmas Day -- Onelki Garcia, Joc Pederson and Chris Reed.

Down On The Farm: Winter Leagues – Puig, Erickson, Pederson, Santiago, Castellanos
The Arizona Fall League wrapped up this week with the Mesa Solar Sox — the team with eight Dodger prospects — finishing in last place with a 10-20 record. Now, it wasn’t all the Dodger prospects fault, but there were some, shall we say, not-so-great performances from some of the fellas.
I’m going to keep my eye on the Puerto Rican Winter League now, as Yasiel Puig made his...
From the AFL: Joc Pederson
Joc Pederson of the Los Angeles Dodgers checks in with FOX Sports NEXT's Inna Lazarev at the Arizona Fall League.
Albuquerque Isotopes Face A Crowded Outfield Situation In 2013
The Dodgers are facing an interesting situation heading into the 2013 season — at least, the Albuquerque Isotopes and Chattanooga Lookouts are.
Following a Twitter exchange with Chris Jackson (@TopesWriter) and Evan Chavez (@newmexicofan), it occurred to me: The Isotopes and Lookouts are going to have some awfully crowded outfields — especially the ‘Topes.
The following outfielders...
Interview With Joc Pederson: Mechanical Changes, Mental Approach, And Fatigue
I had the opportunity to speak with Joc Pederson before his Nov. 8 Arizona Fall League game.
Edited for sanity, because nobody wants to read “uh” and “um” and laughs and transitions and crap.

You admitted that you scuffled to start 2011, but that you made adjustments that helped shape your breakout in 2012, specifically what mechanical changes were implemented by the...
Down On The Farm: Winter Leagues – Onelki, Pederson, Ynoa, Reed, Santiago
Chris Jackson of the Albuquerque Examiner tweeted to me and said that Dodgers left-hander Onelki Garcia hasn’t appeared yet in the Arizona Fall League because of an oblique injury, but he was unable to confirm it. If true, I wouldn’t expect to see Garcia play at all in the AFL, though he could still pitch in another winter league.

Dodgers need to steer clear of the A-Rod, Yankees' mess
I never thought I'd be writing about Alex Rodriguez on this blog. I never thought the media would ramp up such ridiculous rumors. OK, I lied about that last part.
The fact is, the Dodgers showed their financial strength this season with a flurry of acquisitions and ungodly amounts of money being added to the payroll. I guess it makes sense for the media to assume Los Angeles...
No surprise: Joc Pederson and Zach Lee two of the Cal League's best
Dodger prospects Joc Pederson and Zach Lee both cracked the Top 5 of Baseball America's California League Top 20 list, published today.
Pederson checked in at No. 3 while Lee was No. 5 on the list.
Pederson's amazing second half helped to catapult him near the top of this list. Overall, he finished the season with a .313/.396/.516 triple slash with 18 home runs...

Down On The Farm: Week Of August 13th – Ely, Magill, Pederson, Dickson, Seager
The Chattanooga Lookouts are in contention for a playoff berth and helped their cause with a 5-1 week. They did it on the strength of their pitching, allowing just 19 runs in six games. The Dodgers minor league system had two players earn Player Of The Week honors in Luis Nunez and Joc Pederson. The
