Jon Garland Bites The Dust

So Jon Garland has elected to have shoulder surgery which puts him on the shelf for six months. Yep! Doesn't take a genius to figure this one out, but yes, Garland is out for the remainder of the 2011 season. Garland had a  $8MM option that vested with 190 innings pitched. With Garland out for the season this option clearly can not vest due to the surgery, so call this a lucky break.
