Wild-Stars Preview
The Minnesota Wild are playing their best hockey of the season, but coach Mike Yeo isn't getting too excited.
That's probably a good idea with a game in Dallas on tap.
The Wild will try to extend their winning streak to six on Monday night when they go for their first victory at the Stars in 17 tries.
Winners of 12 of 16, the Wild (18-10-2) have put themselves in a good...
Stars 5, Avalanche 2
Derek Roy, Eric Nystrom and Jaromir Jagr each had a goal and an assist to lead the Dallas Stars to a 5-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night.
Rookie Jordie Benn got his first NHL goal and Cody Eakin also scored for Dallas, which won its second straight game following a 1-4-1 stretch in which they were outscored 23-10. Jamie Benn added three assists.
The Stars...
AHL, CHL report and the week ahead 2/25-3/3
Texas Stars
At this point everyone is just left to wonder how the hell Texas is doing this. Despite the continued line shuffling and call-ups to Dallas and just the general roster turnover, the Texas Stars managed to win all three of their games last week (all on the road).
The Stars have now won five in a row (six of their last seven) and sit atop the AHL standings. They...

AHL and CHL Prospect Report and The Week Ahead 2/11-2/17
Texas Stars
This week was the least successful week the Texas Stars have had in the last month. They went 1-1-1 (still respectable) to get three out of a possible six points.
Cristopher Nilstorp and Jack Campbell split starts during the week. Nilstorp’s starts went a bit rougher than Campbell’s as he allowed six goals on 48 shots while Campbell allowed only one goal on...

2013 Game 10 Recap: Jamie Benn Carries Stars to 3-2 Win Over Avs
Final
Dallas Stars 3 - Colorado Avalanche 2
It wasn't the prettiest or most convincing of wins, but the Stars were able to get it done last night. Jamie Benn carried the team with his two goals and Kari Lehtonen was just good enough as Dallas put Friday's ugly effort behind them.
The Positives:
The obvious one here would be Jamie Benn. His first goal was...
Benn scores 2 goals as Stars beat Avalanche
DENVER (AP) -- Jamie Benn scored his first two goals of the season, and the Dallas Stars beat Colorado 3-2 on Monday, spoiling the night for Milan Hejduk as the Avalanche forward was honored for playing in his 1,000th NHL game.
Brenden Morrow also scored, and Kari Lehtonen made 29 saves for Dallas.
Hejduk had a goal -- as he did in his first career game -- and P.A. Parenteau added...
Stars' Roy, Nilstorp returning from groin injuries
DALLAS (AP) -- The Dallas Stars have activated center Derek Roy and goalie Cris Nilstorp from the injured list.
Roy, who missed five games with a groin injury, will be available Monday night at Colorado. Nilstorp and defenseman Jordie Benn have been sent to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Nilstorp's assignment means Richard Bachman will remain the backup to Kari...
Stars 4, Coyotes 3, SO
Jaromir Jagr and Jamie Benn scored in a shootout to lift the Dallas Stars to a 4-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Friday night.
After netting four goals in the opener against Phoenix, the Stars had scored only nine times in the next six games before breaking out.
Antoine Roussel scored in his NHL debut, rookie defenseman Brenden Dillon had his first career goal, and Michael...

2013 Preview: 10 Big Questions About the Stars
1) Can the team find their chemistry quickly enough with the shortened season?
There’s a lot of roster turnover on the team and the lack of a real training camp really hurts, but I’m going to say yes. Jaromir Jagr and Ray Whitney have been around long enough that they should be able to pick up the system quickly. Jagr’s been sort of a mercenary for the past decade so he’s...
Stars give NHL greats new roles with team
DALLAS-- Thursday was a big day for the Dallas Stars. Not only did the club announce a number of initiatives to commemorate the franchise's 20th season in the Lone Star State, but the organization also announced the addition of three familiar names to the front office in a variety of roles.
Former Star Mike Modano, who retired from the game prior to last season, will re-join...
AHL and CHL Prospect Report and The Week Ahead 1/14-1/20
Texas Stars
January has been very kind to the Texas Stars as they ran their winning streak to a season high six games. It’s even more impressive when you consider that the Stars had their roster gutted for their final game of the week as good chunk of the roster went up to Dallas for training camp and they were playing three games in three days.
Goaltending was the story...
CHL Prospect Report, Overseas Roundup and The Week Ahead 12/3-12/9
Texas Stars
It was a pretty difficult, though in the end rewarding, week for the Texas Stars. The team had four games last week, all on the road, and came out of it with a 3-1-0 record. There was a squeaker 5-4 win and another that ended after a 10-round shootout. There was a little bit of everything last week.
Jack Campbell and Cristopher Nilstorp alternated starts for the four...
CHL Prospect Report, Overseas Roundup and The Week Ahead 11/19-11/25
Texas Stars
To put it succinctly, it was the Cristopher Nilstorp show last week for the Texas Stars. Nilstorp put up back-to-back shutouts (including a 1-0 shootout win in which he stopped eight of nine attempts) and carried the Stars to their longest win streak of the year (three games).
Nilstorp might have been fired up by the competition that Josh Robinson presented in his recent...
Prospect Report, Overseas Roundup and The Week Ahead 11/12-11/18
Texas Stars
The best thing you could say about the Texas Stars this week was that the team got progressively better as the week went on. They lost 3-0 to the Toronto Marlies, a 5-4 shootout loss to the Lake Erie Monsters and then finally got back in the win column with a 4-2 win over the Houston Aeros.
Goaltending is still the big issue with this team as both Jack Campbell and...
Stars sign Jordie Benn to 1-year contract
DALLAS (AP) -- The Dallas Stars signed Jordie Benn to a one-year contract Wednesday. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The 24-year-old Benn, the older brother of Stars forward Jamie Benn, had two assists in three games for Dallas last season. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenseman had nine goals and 23 assists last two season with the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League.
Charting Ice Times: March Edition
It was a tale of two months for the Dallas Stars. They started March on fire by winning six games in a row, their longest such streak of the season. Things kind of fell apart after that though as Dallas would lose six of the next nine games. Their standings reflected that shift in play as they went from division leaders to now sitting in the ninth spot in the Western Conference,...
Game 76 Preview: Dallas Stars @ Calgary Flames
Dallas Stars (41-29-5, 87 pts) @ Calgary Flames (34-27-15, 83 pts)
8:00 PM CT, March 26, 2012
Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The game tonight means one thing for the Stars, opportunity. It's an opportunity to put themselves further ahead of the Phoenix Coyotes (a team that they have two games in hand on), a team that lost last night. It's an opportunity...
Game 74 Preview: Vancouver Canucks @ Dallas Stars
Vancouver Canucks (43-21-09, 95 pts) @ Dallas Stars (40-28-5, 85 pts)
7:30 PM CT, March 22, 2012
American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
Spirits are high in Stars camp. Dallas is coming off a critical 4-3 overtime over the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday. The win kept the Stars atop the division and third place in the Western Conference and allowed them to regain some momentum after...
Stars' four-game homestand looming large
DALLAS -- Just two days removed from seeing their 11-game point streak end in dramatic fashion with a 5-2 loss at Winnipeg on Wednesday, the Dallas Stars return to the ice on Friday night against Chicago, the first of a four-game homestand that will also see them host Phoenix, Vancouver and Calgary.
"You can't look too far ahead right now. It's a playoff mentality...
Stars shut out Wild 1-0
Jamie Benn's goal early in the third period and Kari Lehtonen's second consecutive shutout gave the Dallas Stars their sixth straight victory, 1-0 over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.
Benn scored for the third time in four games to give him 21 this season. He snagged a rink-wide pass from Brendan Morrow that glanced off Wild left wing Stephane Veilleux's stick and...
