Josh Beckett says beer story should have stayed in the clubhouse
Josh Beckett has finally responded to the Boston Globe story that called out some Red Sox pitchers for their poor clubhouse behavior during games. Appearing on MLB Network’s Intentional Talk, Beckett said that what goes on in the clubhouse should stay in the clubhouse.
“I think the biggest key is what [Jon] Lester said, we stunk on the field and that was the bottom line...

Player Profile #84: Josh Beckett | SP | BOS
It took buckets of fried chicken and beer to slow down Josh Beckett last year (5.84 ERA in Sept.), but that didn’t stop him from having a nice comeback from his disastrous 2010 campaign. Beckett will never shake his injury woes, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a reliable fantasy pitcher. He’s reached the 190-inning mark in two of his last three seasons...

Josh Beckett on Intentional Talk
Since the 2011 season ended, we haven't heard anything from Josh Beckett. Zip. Nada. There were a lot of people who said that Josh was a clubhouse issue in 2011 and that he had become a problem. A lot of players made comments and called into the radio, but Josh was not one of them. He stayed silent. Today was the first time that Josh has spoken directly to a member of the...

Video: When Josh Beckett Speaks, People Will Listen
Given everything that happened at the end of the 2011 season for the Boston Red Sox, it shouldn't be really that much of a surprise that Josh Beckett didn't say anything. We all know his disdain for the media from the countless interviews he's given.
But the reason Beckett didn't talk after the season isn't what everyone thinks, it turns out he was busy with...

Josh Beckett's High School Coach Expects Him to Overcome Adversity, Thrive for Red Sox Going Forward
For Josh Beckett, the first inkling of adversity occurred during his junior year of high school. One year after dazzling scouts as a sophomore, the Spring (Texas) High School pitcher returned to the mound with even heftier expectations. Scouts wanted dominance from Beckett. In his coach Kenny Humphreys' eyes, that was Beckett's official introduction to pressure. "[Scouts] were no...

A defense of the Texas tough guy
If you're a regular listener of 98.5 (like I am), you've no doubt heard Michael Felger's recent anti-Josh Beckett tirades. Pejoratively calling Beckett "the Texas tough guy," Felger fingers Josh as emblematic of the 2011 Red Sox team -- full of talent but arrogant, entitled, and lacking in character. In short, he says Beckett's a fraud.
Felger points mostly...

Yovani Gallardo Player Projection No. 67
Key Stats: Yovani Gallardo went from good to great last season. He always had the ability to strikeout one hitter per inning, but last season he demonstrated better control than ever before by posting a career best 2.6 BB/9. That was a full walk lower than the season before. As a result, Gallardo was able to throw more pitches, pitches under less stress (from the wind up as opposed...

Red Sox Need to Sign Roy Oswalt to Maintain Chances for World Series
Does new Boston Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington know something that the rest of us don’t? Or is this just a new, frugal version of the Red Sox?
