What If The Dodgers Sold High On Dee Gordon?

You want to think about something terrifying? Dig the title of this RotoGraphs article from yesterday, “Dee Gordon: The New Juan Pierre?”: Smartly, Gordon takes full advantage of his speed and complete lack of power by slapping the ball on the ground. But he had a pop-up problem in the past. He got that under control finally and actually posted a lower than average mark. His...

Re-living the disastrous Steve Bartman incident

2003 was supposed to be The Year for the Chicago Cubs. They had a 3-2 lead over the Marlins in the NLCS, and led them 3-0 going into the bottom of the eighth inning. Mark Prior was on the hill and dealing. Then…disaster. Prior allowed a one-out double to Juan Pierre. Luis Castillo hit a foul pop-up down the line that Moises Alou nearly caught…but Steve Bartman got in Alou...

Pete Rose: Expos Legend

The Washington Nationals are the top seed in the National League playoffs and I’d like to think that it is partly because of Pete Rose’s time with the Montreal Expos. Pete Rose played 95 games with the Expos in 1984, hitting a pedestrian .259 with no dingers and only 23 RBI’s. How very Juan Pierre of him. However, Pete Rose’s 4,000th career hit came as a member of the Montreal...

Dietrich laid on the ground for a minute after the Cardinals’ Jon Jay grounder hit him in the fifth inning.  Dietrich was helped off the field by a trainer and taken to a local hospital for X-rays.  Dietrich was diagnosed with a fracture and also has a bruise...
