Baltimore Orioles: ‘Fredo broke no hearts tonight
With the Baltimore Orioles struggling so mightily, I’m reminded of the movie character that I’d like to be less so than any other: Fredo Corleone. I’m a huge Godfather buff, and like many Italian/Americans I identify most with the character of Michael Corleone. However as I said, there’s no character in a movie that I’d rather be less than his brother...

All-Star Game Once Again Meaningless for A’s Fans
During the previous two All-Star games the Oakland A’s have managed to pitch two thirds of an inning. Last year Andrew Bailey pitched to one batter and this year Gio Gonzalez pitched to one batter. With the A’s basically out of any contention for a playoff spot why would A’s fans have any interest in the All-Star game?
Not since 2007, when Dan Haren started the game for the...

Orioles Mid-Season Review
The Birds are 22-22 at home, but a miserable 14-30 on the road at the half-way point.
It’s that time of year again when you see players from opposing leagues and even players in the midst of bitter rivalries (of course I’m talking about the Red Sox and Yankees) come together and spend a couple of days basking in the glory of their superb seasons thus far at the mid-summer classic...

Justin Duchscherer Is An Honest Man
Coach I didn't mean to strike him out, I hope he's okay.

Anatomy of a Miracle Season
I used to do a yearly preview called "How the Orioles Can Win the East" in which I would talk about 5 things that could go wrong with the other AL East teams and 5 things which could break Baltimore's way and how all these things could combine to allow the Orioles to take the division. It was tongue in cheek but the underlying premise was absolutely true. Miracle seasons...
