Player Profile #53: Nelson Cruz | OF | TEX
This might sound like an exagerration, but Nelson Cruz has been one of the best per-game fantasy baseball players over the last three years. If you take his per-game averages over the last three seasons and extrapolate them over 150 games you have the following player: .278/.338/.534 slash with 82.9 runs, 35 home runs, 100.4 RBI and 19.2 steals. Yes, that’s comparable to...

MLB Notebook: Upton starts off hot in desert
Last season, Justin Upton produced an OPS+ that was tied for the 31st all-time for any full-time qualifying outfielder in his age-23 season since 1901. Could it be a sign of future greatness?

Player Profile #105: Chris Young | OF | ARI
Color me biased (I’ve owned Chris Young for the last two seasons and I’m keeping him this season) but I think the Arizona outfielder is one of the more undervalued assets in fantasy. No one likes taking on a player with a career .240 average, but he’s had back-to-back 20/20 seasons and will almost certainly be in line for a third. At this point in his career, we...

PRO Rumors financial efficiency report- Arizona Diamondbacks
The next financial efficiency report we will dive into is the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks finished the regular season with a 94-68 record, eight games ahead of the Giants for the NL West title (their first playoff appearance since 2007). The Diamondbacks then took on the Brewers in the NLDS, and after being down 0-2 in the first two games they forced a decisive fifth game...

Today, we turn our bejeweled eyeglasses to the top 20 outfielders for 2012 fantasy baseball. The top twenty outfielders will need to go to a top 40 then a top 60 then a top 80. Dynasty League Hot Corner: Just what is a top prospect worth?
If you’re playing in any kind of Dynasty League, you probably have a strong tie with top prospects coming up through the ranks. Chances are you have a farm system were you can actually draft and hold some of this talent and once they make their big league debut you can call them up in the same way the majors does. But what are the odd’s of your next top prospect actually...

Hitters Age Like Wine — Power Like Cheese?
Wine and cheese make for a delectable combo. But the two foods don’t age the same. Wine takes much longer to turn to vinegar than it does for your cheese to grow fuzzy green mold. That’s why wine is the one used in sayings by older men verifying their remaining veracity.
Power, patience and contact are the components of a delectable (productive) hitter. And yet, like...

We have reached the end of our rope so to speak. We have looked at distinctive themes at every position, so this time we are going to use the table to old-fashioned way. Ranking The Top Outfielders in Baseball
Today’s ESPN trivia question was about Carlos Beltran. It asked how high the voter thought Beltran ranked among the ranks of MLB outfielders. I voted for “The Top Half” but was outvoted by “The Top 20″ and “The Top 10″ had a pretty good showing as well. This got me thinking, who are the top 20 outfielders in the game and in what order? Is Carlos Beltran one of them...

Kubel vs. Para
The Arizona Diamondbacks attempted to solidify their offensive attack in 2012 with the addition of LF Jason Kubel. With Justin Upton entrenched in RF and Chris Young possessing a nice speed/power combo in CF, that means Gerardo Parra is regulated to 4th outfielder duties.Kubel is a left-handed batter that will be turning 30 years old in May and is coming off a year in which he hit...
