Yankees Win Bid for Hiroyuki Nakajima
There have been reports stating that Nakajima was hoping to land on the West Coast, and I suspect (though cannot confirm) that he would prefer a starting gig as he is currently in the prime of his career. As such, it will be interesting to see if he accepts the Yankees offer, whatever it may be, to serve as their primary utility infielder - it would not be unprecedented for Nakajima...

Jason Heyward starts his season with a homer — again
Just call him Mr. Opening Day.
For the second straight year, Atlanta Braves rightfielder Jason Heyward hit a home run in his first at-bat on opening day — this one coming off Washington Nationals pitcher Livan Hernandez to lead off the second inning in the Braves' 2-0 victory.
Combine the shot with 2010's blast off Carlos Zambrano and Heyward becomes just the second...

Veterans like Carlos Lee, Lance Berkman, Kazuo Matsui and Pedro Feliz got off to horrid starts. Pitcher Wandy Rodriguez was not pitching well. Game after game something went wrong or a big hit was...

The rumor mill out of Japan has it that Seibu Lions shortstop Hiroyuki Nakajima is looking to make an MLB jump this offseason via the posting system. I’ve covered “Nakaji” on FanGraphs before, but here’s a little more detail.

As expected, Matsui returning on minor-league deal
