Report: Angels' Morales mashing ball
Los Angeles Angels slugger Kendry Morales appears well on his way to making a comeback after missing the past two seasons.
Angels center fielder Peter Bourjos told the Orange County Register that Morales looked "very impressive" at the team's minor league complex.
"I've been hitting with him every day," Bourjos said. "Monday was the first time he...

Angels Notes: Madson, Pujols, Morales, Trumbo
Going forward, Angels owner Arte Moreno has made it clear that he wants to leave baseball decisions up to the baseball department as opposed to manager Mike Scioscia. Here's a look at what the Halos might do next..
The Angels are considering free agent closer Ryan Madson, tweets Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. However, in order to stay under the cap, the club would likely...

Post Winter Meetings Sneak Peaks: AL West
We took a look at all of the clubs prior to the Winter Meetings. Now that those meetings are over, most teams are moving into the second phase of their offseason. Once the calendar hits January, most teams are looking to add smaller pieces here and there. Of course, some big ticket items are still waiting in the wings. So, we will look at what each team has done, what they would...

What About Michael Cuddyer?
The Pirates have a need at first base that they could fill through free agency this offseason. The names we have hard are Derrek Lee, Carlos Pena, Josh Willingham, along with some trade speculation including guys like Ike Davis and Kendry Morales. One name we haven't heard but could start hearing about soon is Michael Cuddyer. He and the Twins were in talks throughout the...

Angels Sign Albert Pujols
Yahoo sports is reporting that Albert Pujols will sign with the Los Angeles Angels.
The deal is for 10 years and between $250-260MM. He will receive a full no trade clause.
The Cardinals were seen as the favorites yesterday after they matched the Marlins 10 yrs, $220MM, so this has come as a surprise.
Pujols has spent the first 11 years of his career with the Cardinals, where...

Fifteen sports celebration fails
Sports celebrations get a lot of publicity. Sports celebration failures...not so much. They deserve more and we're hoping that we contribute to that. Here are fifteen of our favorites. Swedish hockey player Henrik Andersen:

The Los Angeles Angels fell short of their goal in 2011
The Los Angeles Angels finished 2nd place in the A.L. West with a 86-76 record, which had them 10 games behind the Rangers. Here is a look at what stood out to me in 2011 about the Angels:
TEAM MVP & BEST PITCHER: 28-year old righty starting pitcher Jered Weaver was dominating for the Angels in 2011. He pitched in 33 games (all starts) for the Angels last year and he was 18...

What Went Wrong? A Look Back at 2011
By Adam Dodge - AngelsWin.com Senior Writer
There were a number of things that went right for Mike Scioscia’s ballclub in 2011. Howie Kendrick produced arguably his best year as a big-leaguer, walloping a career high 18 homeruns and posting an OPS over .800 for the first time during an all-star campaign. When Kendry Morales (sorry dude. You should’ve told us there was an “s”...

Mark Trumbo has turned in an outstanding rookie season for the Los Angeles Angels
25-year old righty swinging 1B Mark Trumbo got his first taste of the majors back in September of 2010 with the Angels. He played in 8 games for the Angels in 2010 and he was 1 for 15 (.067 avg, .192 OPS) with 2 runs scored, 0 homers and 2 RBIs. He also walked only 1 time while whiffing 8 times. So when Kendry Morales wasn’t ready to return this year from his ankle injury...

Uh oh, Brian. What’s the Matusz?
Baseball Professor participated in a National Fantasy Baseball Championship league for the first time this year. It hasn’t been the greatest experience. The draft took place a little too early for our liking and as a result our gambles on the health of both Kendry Morales and Chase Utley were bad decisions in retrospect.
Despite some [...]

The Los Angeles Angels have to be ecstatic with the play of Mark Trumbo
The Angels have to be happy with the play of 25-year old righty swinging 1B Mark Trumbo so far this year. Trumbo has played in 59 games for the Angels so far this year and he is 53 for 210 (.252 avg, .767 OPS) with 23 runs scored, 11 homers, 29 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. Trumbo is a hacker at the plate though as he has only walked 13 times while whiffing 51 times so far this year...

Angels Floppy Give-Away
WHERE THE HELL'S THE "S" IN KENDRYS?
It’s been a rough year for Los Angeles Angels first baseman Kendrys Morales. From his walk off home run celebration turned season ending injury last May 29th, then finding out he’d miss the whole 2011 season after electing to have surgery to “clean up” scar tissue and bone cysts in the area of the ankle he...

Early 2011 All-Disabled List Team
Despite it only being May 23, the 2011 Major League Baseball season has seen its share of movement on the disabled list. The flavor of the year in 2008 was the strained oblique. This year, it's the in thing to hurt your shoulder. The IASID baseball nerdbombers have compiled our Early 2011 All-Disabled List Team:
C - Victor Martinez, Tigers - He spent April 19-May 3 on...

Kendry Morales' Ankle Won't Heal Without Surgery
The Los Angeles Angels are once again without Kendry Morales since he has decided to undergo another season-ending surgery on his left ankle.
The first baseman has been sidelined since May 29 of last year when he busted the ankle celebrating a walkoff grand slam at home plate. He was kicking ass too, leading the club with 11 homers and 39 RBI at the time of his injury. Crappy.
Apparently...

Kendry Morales injury: LA Angels now need to look elsewhere for production
The walk-off celebration that occurred on May 29 last year that left Los Angeles Angels first baseman Kendrys Morales in a heap at home plate will now cost him almost two full seasons, and leave the Halos with even more questions about how to bolster their sagging offensive production.

Horrible Day: White Sox 6, Angels 4 (10 Innings)
Kendry Morales down for the year (and we hope that's all). Francisco Rodriguez hits the DL with shoulder problems. Kevin Jepsen comes back to replace him and immediately gets another loss in a game following a wild pitch on the first pitch of an intentional walk. Kevin Jepsen can't throw a strike to save his life, wild a foot off the plate.

Kendry Morales needs a second surgery on his ankle, ending his season for the Los Angeles Angels
27-year old 1B Kendry Morales needs a second surgery on his ankle that was broken during a walkoff celebration last year, which will cost him the rest of this season. He tried to rehab his ankle but he could just not get it right again. This is a shame as he was an emerging force for the Angels. Morales has played in 330 games in his first 5 years with the Angels and he is 323...

2011 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Kendry Morales Done For The Season...Again!
According to Scott Miller of CBS Sports, Kendry Morales is out for the year, so expect Mark Trumbo to continue to get playing time. He has played well this year and it might be time to add him as he is only owned in 16.5% of ESPN leagues (I heard, Trumbo just picked himself up in his own fantasy baseball league). Another player to think about is Justin Smoak, I know he is in Seattle...
