Sean McMahonAt the age of 32, 49ers’ cornerback Carlos Rogers has conceivably surpassed the prime of his football career. With a contract that carries the weight of a $6,250,000 base salary in 2014, it’s not wild to assume that Rogers’ talent isn’t equal to the amount of money that he is slated to make this upcoming season.
I am one of the few that believes that Rogers’...
Ageless wonder or over the hill. A thin line exists between the two when it comes to running backs aged 30 and older.
Which brings us to one Frank Gore. The 49ers’ all-time leading rusher turns 31 in May, and although he is coming off his seventh 1,000-yard season, the question of how much longer can he go as the team’s premiere back has to be posed.
Gore has one year left on...
Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com believes 49ers running back LaMichael James could end up on the trading block.
James could find himself on the trade block with a running back corps that could consist of Gore, Lattimore, Kendall Hunter, Jewel Hampton and any other offseason additions. But for the 49ers to even consider shipping off James, they must have a plan for someone else in the...
Matt Maiocco has already mentioned that former second-round pick RB LaMichael James may not be a great fit with the 49ers and now suggests that James could find himself on the trading block later in the offseason.
“As for LaMichael James, there is no way he still has second-round value in a trade. His value is not as great because he has only two seasons remaining on his contract...
The NFL issued the 49ers a warning for the incident in the NFC Championship game in which a Seattle Seahawks player came in contact with a member of the 49ers staff while covering a punt.
The 49ers were not fined for the incident, an NFL spokesman told CSNBayArea.com on Tuesday.
The play occurred early in the second quarter on a play in which 49ers return man LaMichael James muffed...
Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area writes that former second-round pick RB LaMichael James “certainly does not appear to be a good fit with the 49ers, who are built to be a power-running team.“
James cryptically tweeted on Thursday; “I’d rather they just let me go” and later added that “if I tweet anything it’s always about [football].”
The 49ers had James active for just...
LaMichael James, the seldom-used 49ers running back, may or may not want out.
He has claimed in the past that his posts on his verified Twitter account are not about football. Still, it's easy to see that he has been frustrated with his role during his first two seasons after the 49ers made him a second-round draft pick in 2012.
And it's hard to imagine that he's going...
Sean McMahonIf it wasn’t clear earlier this season, 49ers’ backup running back LaMichael James is unhappy. The ex Oregon Duck was apparently talking about his family when he sent out a tweet (since deleted from his account) about him not working at State Farm and that he isn’t ”trying to be insurance” earlier this season (October).
The Twitterverse was thrown into a frenzy...
Does LaMichael James want out of San Francisco? His series of cryptic tweets on Thursday may hold the answer.
First, there was this:
Innocent enough, right? Well, a few hours later, the second-year running back escalated things in a hurry.
San Francisco left guard Mike Iupati is out of the NFC championship game with an ankle injury suffered in the second quarter on Sunday.
Iupati was injured on Anthony Dixon's 1-yard touchdown dive. Iupati was down on the field for several minutes, then had to be helped to the sideline by teammates and was putting very little weight on his right leg. Iupati eventually was taken...

One punt play during Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers produced a whole lot of action.
Early in the second quarter, 49ers returner LaMichael James muffed the punt just before he was flattened by Ricardo Lockette. James was attempting to get a handle on the ball, but as he was spinning around, he got absolutely rocked by Lockette...
LaMichael James was smoked on a big hit from Ricardo Lockette during Sunday's NFC Championship Game between the Seahawks and 49ers.
This is one of the most viscous hits I’ve ever seen and it was on LaMichael James of the San Francisco 49ers. Catching punts is never easy. James probably should have called for a fair catch. We want to reach out to James and hope he is not hurt beyond repair. That look like it […]
LaMichael James might only get a couple of chances to touch the ball when the San Francisco 49ers face the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC championship game Sunday.
All he wants is one.
San Francisco's kickoff and punt return specialist spent most of the season buried behind running backs Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter in the backfield. He has started to make his mark in the playoffs...

Jeremiah Masoli had a close-up view of bitter defeat in the bitter cold as Hamilton fell 45-23 to Saskatchewan in the Grey Cup, the Canadian Football League Championship in Regina Sunday night. Masoli didn't play as Tiger Cat starter Henry Burris went 20-43 passing. The Ti-Cats had three turnovers in the one-sided loss.
Can't catch that man: LaMichael James ignited a sleeping...
LaMichael James once again is not using twitter to the best of his ability. Not long after the Patriots/Panthers game LaMichael James had this to say regarding a tweet by former 49ers wide receiver Kyle Williams. Of course LaMichael has already deleted this said tweet, but thanks to the power of the internet we got a screen cap of the tweet.
@KyleWilliams_10 @tedginnjr_19 left here...
The 49ers let go of their two top kick returners this week, but maintain they can improve that area going forward with LaMichael James.
The San Francisco 49ers made some significant changes this week looking to get more positive returns.
Now it's up to running backs LaMichael James, Anthony Dixon and a few other newcomers in the role to provide them.
With their return game lagging near the bottom of the NFL rankings, the 49ers have entrusted a new set of players with bringing back kicks as they head into the...

Linebacker Aldon Smith is active for the San Francisco 49ers for the first time since Week 3 following a five-week stint in treatment for substance abuse.
Also back for the reigning NFC champion Niners on Sunday against Carolina is wide receiver Mario Manningham, who has been sidelined since last December after undergoing left knee surgery. Running back LaMichael James, someone...

LaMichael James said he is "most definitely" preparing as if he'll return punts and kickoffs for the 49ers on Sunday when they host the Carolina Panthers.
When will he find out if that's the case from his coaches?
"I'll probably find out Sunday, to be honest," James replied Thursday.
A healthy scratch the past three games, James' speed and play...
A LaMichael James sighting might be in the works.
It's the halfway point of the 49ers' season, and the running back appeared in two of the first eight games, collecting 31 yards on seven carries and 29 yards on a kick return.
Coach Jim Harbaugh, upon returning from a week and a half on the road, hinted Tuesday that James could get more playing time in the second half. He...
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the 49ers are looking to trade running back Anthony Dixon.
The Niners need to trade at least one running back. They’re loaded with Dixon, Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, LaMichael James and Marcus Lattimore.
I would think San Francisco won’t be asking much in exchange for Dixon, since he’s still virtually an unproven player.
Wide receiver Jon Baldwin is not active for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after experiencing an undisclosed illness for most of the past two weeks.
Baldwin did not practice on Wednesday after the 49ers arrived in London, but he did take part in limited work on Thursday and Friday. Anquan Boldin and Kyle Williams are listed as the 49ers' starting wide receivers...
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, 49ers general manager Trent Baalke made it clear to reporters that they likely won’t be pulling the trigger on a trade that would bring a wide receiver to the bay area.
In a wide-ranging interview with the team’s beat writers Friday morning, general manager Trent Baalke said the 49ers weren’t shopping James and suggested the team...
Don’t expect the 49ers to welcome a new wide receiver or bid farewell to little-used running back LaMichael James before the NFL trade deadline Tuesday.
In a wide-ranging sit-down with the team’s beat writers this morning general manager Trent Baalke said the 49ers weren’t shopping James a 2012 second-round pick who has been a healthy scratch the past two weeks and has seven...
