Sometimes. you have those days where nothing really goes your way… this was probably one of them. The Savannah Sand Gnats had to play two games today, both of the seven-inning MiLB double-header variety, and dropped both of them – but they were close games. Matthew Koch started the earlier game and pitched pretty well, lasting six inning and allowing only...
The Tigers bullpen has been awful so far this year. So awful, that it has cost the Tigers two wins so far. The bad news is that there isn’t help on the way.
Trades for bullpen pitchers don’t happen before the middle of May, and the free agent market is bare of guys that can help you quickly. The farm system isn’t full of exciting prospects either. This may be a long year in...

Rondon pitched for the Tigers the last...

A hard-fought game turned to sheer embarrassment for Jose Valverde and the Tigers as they fell to the Colorado Rockies 12-4 in 10 innings from Comerica Park.
Coming into the game on an 8 game losing streak, the Rockies took advantage of a Valverde throwing error in the 10th to score 8 runs in the en route to victory.
It wasn’t all on Valverde though in the 10th.

Manager Jim Leyland said the plan was for Marte to throw maybe 40 to 55 pitches, which would...
18-19, 2nd place, 3 games behind Cle.
Since April 17, the Tigers have won 10 and lost 16. They have played on every single day after they have won a game, and they have lost every game after a win in that stretch. It’s been pretty bad. The bullpen has been horrendous. Here are some team bullpen stats: ERA – 5.17, worst in the majors; WHIP – 1.54, 2nd to worst in the majors...

Charlie Morton made his 3rd start of the Grapefruit League season and looked very impressive. In four innings, he gave up just two hits, struck out two batters, and didn’t give up a run. As of now, he isn’t slated to start any of the first four games of the season, but it looks like...
