Game 49: Wake up, play better

After yesterday’s stinker, the Rangers are back home for one last game before the All Star break against the Sabres. These aren’t the same Sabres from last year that Mackenzie Skapski blanked twice. The Sabres basically built their top line in three months, getting Evander Kane, Jack Eichel, and Ryan O’Reilly in separate moves from […] The post Game 49: Wake up, play better...

Wolf Pack recall Skapski, loan Malcolm to Greenville

The Hartford Wolf Pack have recalled goalie Mackenzie Skapski from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and loaned goalie Jeff Malcolm to Greenville. Skapski was sent to Greenville on last week on a conditioning stint, rehabbing from surgery. Skapski is back with Hartford, where he will presumably split duties with Magnus Hellberg.

Rangers assign Mackenzie Skapski to ECHL

The Rangers have assigned goalie Mackenzie Skapski to the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Skapski has not seen any action thus far due to injury. With Magnus Hellberg playing well in Hartford, Skapski needs playing time to rehab his injury, and the ECHL is the only logical choice at the moment. My guess is that Skapski […]

Rangers Make First Cuts

Rangers make first wave roster cuts. Roster down to 43. From #NYR PR: pic.twitter.com/wnkXMRnXCl — Sean Hartnett (@HartnettHockey) September 23, 2015 As expected, no surprise cuts today.  Some notables… Mackenzie Skapski is still recovering from offseason hip surgery and was expected to begin the season in Hartford, but not in time for the season opener. Some quick thoughts on Oscar Lindberg and the Rangers lineup

The Rangers 2015-16 campaign is just two pre-season games deep. The first wave of roster cuts has been made with virtually no surprises. Though I’m sure there is at least one heart broken for the demotion of Mackenzie Skapski. For the players remaining in camp, there are few roster spots to be had. Though Oscar Lindberg continue reading...

Mackenzie Skapski On Track In Rehab

Mackenzie Skapski recently made an appearance at the Rangers Youth Camp and sat down for an interview with the Rangers’ Jim Cerny, which you can watch here. Skapski underwent hip surgery on June 2nd and is in the process of rehabbing. The Rangers say Skapski will be out of action for 4-5 months. Skapski made sure he mentioned that the surgery was from “wear and tear” rather...

Rangers Sign Magnus Hellberg

This morning, the Rangers announced the signing of goaltender Magnus Hellberg, recently acquired via trade with the Nashville Predators. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hellberg and Mackenzie Skapski are expected to be the duo manning the pipes for the Wolf Pack this season, meaning this won’t impact the cap at the NHL level. (Photo credit: Getty Images)

Rangers goaltender Mackenzie Skapski has hip surgery

NEW YORK (AP) New York Rangers goaltender Mackenzie Skapski has had hip surgery and is expected to be sidelined four to five months. The Rangers announced Tuesday that Skapski had surgery to repair a labral tear in his right hip. The 20-year-old Skapski appeared in two games with the Rangers in 2014-15, posting a 2-0-0 record. He earned his first career NHL win while making his...

Skapski Out 4-5 Months

Throw Mackenzie Skapski on the pile of injured Rangers. The team announced today that Skapski underwent a procedure to repair a torn labrum in his hip and recovery time is expected to be 4-5 months. I’m not sure this impacts any plans for moving Talbot as there are plenty of veteran backups out there for less than $1 million per.

Mackenzie Skpaski has hip surgery, out 4-5 months

Hartford Wolf Pack starting goaltender Mackenzie Skapski had successful arthroscopic hip surgery today, which repaired a torn labrum in his right hip. Skapski will be out 4-5 months, which puts his return in the October-November timeframe. This further solidifies that Skapski will be in Hartford next season, despite allowing just one goal in two games Read more → The post Mackenzie...

Henrik Lundqvist is ready to go, and he’s so dreamy

Rangers return Mackenzie Skapski to Hartford

The New York Rangers have returned goaltender Mackenzie Skapski to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. Report: Skapski Heading To Hartford

Lundqvist will dress (if not play?) Thursday night in Ottawa. Skapski returning to AHL today. Recall up front a possibility next few days. — Larry Brooks (@NYP_Brooksie) March 25, 2015 So ends the fairy tale (for now) of Mackenzie Skapski, whose smiles and hand waves from the Ranger bench caught New York City by storm over the last two months.  The experience Skapski has had...

Skapski gets first shutout, Rangers blank Sabres

There is no goal breakdown or recap from last night, sorry folks. I’m in Disney, and everyone else had weddings, birthdays, and work related activities that prevented them from watching the game. Mackenzie Skapski stopped all 20 shots he faced en route to his first shutout of his career. Keith Yandle scored his first goal Read more → The post Skapski gets first shutout, Rangers...

Yandle scores winner, Skapski gets shutout as Rangers blank Sabres

Keith Yandle's third-period goal helped lift the New York Rangers to a 2-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. Martin St. Louis added an empty-net goal and Mackenzie Skapski made 20 saves for his first career NHL shutout. It was just Skapski's second NHL win, and both milestones came this season against Buffalo. After killing off a penalty, the Rangers broke the scoreless...

Rangers-Sabres Preview

Cam Talbot has often carried the short-handed New York Rangers - who suffered another key injury this week - but he's expected to get some well-deserved rest Saturday night. Mackenzie Skapski will try to keep the Rangers rolling in his second NHL start with another strong effort against the lowly Buffalo Sabres. Talbot has started all but one game since New York (42-17-7) lost top...

Congrats are in order to Mackenzie Skapski on his first NHL win and what probably should’ve been his first NHL shutout if not for some shoddy defense in front of him to start the game. Rangers-Sabres Preview

The New York Rangers have used Cam Talbot exclusively since Henrik Lundqvist was injured, but that may be about to change. The Rangers could start MacKenzie Skapski in his NHL debut Friday night as they look to make it six consecutive wins against the league-worst Buffalo Sabres. New York (34-16-6) is 5-1-2 since Lundqvist was put on injured reserve with a neck injury, and Talbot...
