Latest Pittsburgh Penguins Rumors

I love searching around and looking into rumors that may be going around regrading any of my favorite sports teams. But that is the one keep thing you have to remember and keep in mind about them, they are “rumors”. And depending on the source, it may or may not even be a reliable one which will cause you to do a bit more research into the alleged rumor. The Pittsburgh Penguins...

The Penguins are optimistic they will eventually sign Fleury to a new deal, but talks with his representatives...

The long road back: Penguins going gold next season.

Reading Rob Rossi’s post about the Penguins interviewing John Hynes for the coaching job, and for some reason this was buried: Note: The Penguins expect to introduce an alternate jersey to be worn for select games next season. One confirmable detail about the third jersey is the return of Pittsburgh Gold to the team’s uniforms for the first time since 2001-02 season. Goalie...

Marc-AnChidi Fleurywuoma

That title is not to downplay the roles of current Steelers number 29 Shamarko Thomas or even classic wearers of that number like Barry Foster. Chidi was the insane special teams playmaker who made that number stand out, and I really just wanted to somehow combine his name with Marc-Andre Fleury's. Penguins Fleury Trade Options, Vokoun, Miller

Despite all of the Pittsburgh Penguins storylines of the 2014 offseason, the future of goalie Marc-Andre Fleury remains one of the biggest topics of discussion in the Burgh. A Look at the Goalie Landscape in the NHL

By: Meesh Shanmugam (@HockeyMeesh) As everyone experiments with CapGeek’s Armchair GM, one of the hotter topics is what to do with Marc-Andre Fleury.  He has one more year left on his contract and will make $5 million, which is certainly a hefty sum on a team with several holes to fill and not much money to do it. Fleury is one of many hot topics this season. (Bruce Bennett/Getty...

Does Marc-Andre Fleury Still Belong in Pittsburgh? by @griffTHW

For over nine years, Marc-Andre Fleury has patrolled the Pittsburgh crease, helping transform the Penguins from a laughing stock into one of the NHL's most successful squads.  Along the way, he's backstopped his club to back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, reached the pinnacle of the sport in 2009 and broken numerous franchise records.  Not yet 30 years old, The Flower sits...

Ryan Miller is Not Marc Andre Fleury's Successor by @ChicksDigHockey

Do the Penguins have a goaltender problem or a back-up goaltender problem? I think they have a back-up goalie issue but was shocked to see some Pens' fans fantasize about picking up Ryan Miller. The St. Louis Blues have elected to let Ryan Miller go to free-agency. The Blues acquired Miller and Steve Ott in late February from the Buffalo Sabres for Jaroslav Halak, Chris Stewart...

Powder-Puff Penguins Putrid in 3-1 Loss

I was searching for a word that best described the Penguins’ pathetic showing during Sunday night’s abysmal 3-1 loss to the Rangers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Gutless came to mind. With a chance to wrap-up their second-round series and atone for a wretched showing in Game 5, the Penguins turned in one of the most passionless performances I’ve ever had the...

Goaltenders: A Case Study

By Annie Shean (@JustPuckIt) Introduction to “Goaltenders: A Case Study” The generic definition of a goaltender is a “player who defends their team’s goal net by stopping shots of the puck from entering their team’s net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring.” It sounds like an easy position right? You just stay in the crease and stop a puck from going in...

Penguins Defense Stands Tall

Having posted consecutive shutouts against the stubborn New York Rangers, Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has received tons of praise, and deservedly so. “Flower” is enjoying by far his best postseason since 2009, when he helped the Pens win the Cup.
