Welcome to San Diego, Marcus Giles
"New Padres second baseman Marcus Giles was handcuffed, detained and escorted from Qualcomm Stadium during Sunday's Chargers playoff game after getting involved in a fight on the stadium's club level, according to police."
There aren't too many details here, but the incident appears to be minor. Giles was defending a friend who got into a fight during the game. That person...

Phillies Release Giles
When the Phillies signed Marcus Giles to a minor league contract this winter, it appeared to be a win/win situation. With Chase Utley potentially missing the first month of the season while recovering form hip surgery, it gave the Phillies veteran experience at second base, while also giving the former All-Star (who missed the entire [...]

Today was a big cut day for the Phillies. Aside from giving second baseman Marcus Giles his release, the Phillies sent pitcher Carlos Carrasco and outfielder John Mayberry Jr. to minor league camp. Although a log shot, Carrasco was in the mix for the Phillies fifth starter and went 2-2 with a 5.95 ERA. The [...]

I liked both Giles brothers as players. It’s always disappointing when someone whose work you admire is involved in something despicable.

San Diego Showers Aren't Safe
It's going to be an interesting season. We found out Greg Maddux is a bit of a closet nutjob. But compared to Brian and Marcus Giles, Maddux might be pretty damn normal. Some people would like to be a fly on the wall in certain places. If I was a fly in San Diego's locker room, I'd probably find the nearest ceiling fan.
