Cleveland Indians designated Mark Grudzielanek for assignment
According to Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com, the Cleveland Indians have designated second baseman Mark Grudzielanek for assignment. In a parallel move, the team purchased the contract of Anderson Hernandez from Triple-A Columbus.
Cleveland signed Grudzielanek to a Minor League contract last January.
Grudzielanek, 39, appeared in 30 games for the Indians. He hit .273 with 11 RBIs.

The Cleveland Indians have cut veteran infielder Mark Grudzielanek. The Indians designated Grudzielanek for assignment on Tuesday, giving them 10 days to make a move with him. The 39-year-old Grudzielanek hit .273 with 11 RBIs in 30 games. He got 30 hits this season and all of them were singles. He spent last year in the minors while recovering from an ankle injury.
