From the day the Flyers signed Ray Emery, we knew this day would come. Martin Biron, who spent two and a half years as the Flyers top goaltender, has signed with the New York Islanders. Biron was a victim of the Flyers running out of salary cap space and needing to find cheap alternatives...

The 2008 NHL Entry Draft will begin on Friday and the Flyers unlike last year pick late in the first round. The Fly guys seem to have a nice young group of forwards and defensemen who may be ready to contribute in years to come. One glaring weakness in the Flyers farm system is goaltending...

Coming into this year's Stanley Cup playoffs, Martin Biron was an unproven quantity when it came to playoff hockey. At 30 years of age, he had never played in an NHL playoff game. Since the playoffs have started Biron has played spectacular in net and is the cornerstone behind...

Sunday, the Flyers had their winning streak halted at 4 in a row by the Edmonton Oilers by a score of 5-4. In this game, like most of the season so far, Martin Biron does not look much the player that was seen in the playoffs. He seems to be fighting the puck and over-anticipating the play.

What hope do the Flyers have if their goalies can't even stop little kids from scoring on them? Here's a clip of a group of youth hockey league kids getting their chance to score on Flyers goalies Antero Niitymaki and Martin Biron. Let's hope the goalies weren't trying...

According to CSNPhilly, word has spread around the NHL that the Flyers are deep in discussions with Emery and, barring a last-minute breakdown, will sign the goalie when free agency opens in July. Emery last played for a team in the KHL, a Russian League, after being waived by the...

Biron Creates Logjam in Islanders' Crease
Most readers of my work will tell you that the main focus of my writing is centered around the Boston Bruins' organization. However, from time to time, it is necessary to mention what other teams around the NHL are doing. Today, that focus shifts to a rather interesting situation...

Facing elimination at the supposedly hostile Mellon Arean, the

The Hockey Gods Have Frowned Upon Marty Biron
I'm not quite sure what former Flyers goalie Martin Biron could have done to be banished to the Island, but it must have been more egregious than his performance as a Philadelphia Flyer. Marty was serviceable at worst, dominant when at his best, and always a great teammate and...

The Flyers defeated the Lightning 3-2 in what proved to be an exciting contest. The Flyers were led offensively by Jeff Carter, who scored a pair of goals, the second one the game winner in the final two minutes. Martin Biron had a nice game in goal, stopping 23 shots. The win kept...

Unable to stay with the Flyers and unable to sign anywhere else in the NHL, goaltender Antero Niittymaki has decided to go play in Russia. The former Flyer, who played five seasons in net, signed with Ray Emery's old team in the KHL, Atlant Moscow Oblast. Think of it as an international...
That’s why you don’t get greedy, Marty.
I have to admit, this one is going to be a little tougher for me to write. I’ve been a fan of Martin Biron even before he signed with the Flyers and was overjoyed when I heard he’d be wearing the Orange and Black. I couldn’t wait to see him on the ice and I [...]

After a quick exit out of the playoffs, the Flyers have some serious work to do to in the

themselves with too many forwards signed to big, long term contracts
and not enough quality defensemen on the roster. They...

Don't blame Marty Biron for this one. The Flyers were seemingly

champs. Biron was at his best, stopping everything the Wings threw at
him...
