Gardy: 'We'll take our chances with (Capps)'
MINNEAPOLIS Matt Capps heard the boos. How could he not? He heard them on more than one occasion, raining down on him from the Minnesota Twins faithful at Target Field.
With closer Joe Nathan still recovering from 2010 Tommy John surgery, Capps was occasionally inserted into the ninth-inning role for Minnesota early in the 2011 season. But Capps struggled mightily. In a span of...

Twins reliever Capps ready to close in 2012
Back in the summer of 2010, Matt Capps was acquired by the Twins in a trade with the Washington Nationals for catcher Wilson Ramos and pitcher Joe Testa. Through Oct. 2 of that first year in Minnesota, Capps was brilliant, converting 16 of 18 save opportunities.
Once Joe Nathan returned Capps was happy to move to the set-up role for the Twins at the start of the 2011 season. However...

Twins bring back Matt Capps to close in 2012
When it was
announced that the Minnesota Twins
had a deal in place to bring back closer Matt Capps, the move has been met
with streams of vitriol for the obvious reasons.
The first and
foremost reason was that Capps’s 2011 season was a big bag of flaming poo.
Elevated back into the closer’s role after Joe Nathan returned prematurely from
Tommy John surgery, Capps struggled...

Minnesota Twins Give Matt Capps One-Year Deal, We LOL
Well, it's not so much that we laughed out loud... it was more like a disgusted groan. Out loud. Then we chuckled at the absolute stupidity of the deal, and our rash belief that Terry Ryan was going to do anything to point the Minnesota Twins in the opposite direction of bad decisions.
Those feelings were the aftermath of the news that the club has re-signed that fat, save...

Minny trying to keep Capps
Twins are looking to re-sign Matt Capps, I'm getting a bit nervous that the numbers are just falling out of our favor in regards to getting a legitimate closer. There are still 6-7 teams looking and only 5-6 closers remaining. After that your going into the Branden Looper/Luis Ayala type situation, where your trying to make someone into a closer or give someone who failed at...

Capps looking like the best fit...
The Cards are reportedly making a strong push to re-sign Dotel, he's more of a set-up man who could close but still if they sign him that takes another arm off the ever dwindling closer market. Adam Rubin has heard that Matt Capps appears to be the best fit and I tend to agree. That's not to say, he's the best available closer or that I'm excited about the proposition...

Transaction Analysis: Cappsing Things Off by R.J. Anderson
Signed P-R Matt Capps to a one-year deal worth $4.5 million with an option for 2013. [12/5]
This is a move sure to draw some ire from the locals. It’s hard to blame a player for being involved in a poor signing or trade, but being acquired for Wilson Ramos put Capps on shaky footing to begin with among the Minnesota faithful. Of course, Capps did not help himself in 2011...

Hitters elevating Capps' fastball
After yet another
incomplete save opportunity, Matt Capps is once again under the microscope.
Pitching
coach Rick Anderson told reporters that he is going to review the
video to see if his current struggles are sourced to a mechanical issue. In
May, I pointed out that Capps was trekking
back and forth on the rubber, something that he had not done in the past.
Shortly after that...

Capps: We have been playing uphill all season
Matt Capps was traded to the Minnesota Twins on July 29, 2010, for catching prospect Wilson Ramos and left-handed pitcher Joe Testa.
The early returns on Capps were spectacular as he closed out the 2010 season 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA and saved 16 games in 18 opportunities. This season, Capps was expected to mesh with Joe Nathan, who missed 2010 with an injury, to give the Twins a perfect...

Mets have not had contact with Capps
I wasn't concerned or annoyed with reports that Jonathan Broxton was close to signing elsewhere nor was I that concerned with Joe Nathan signing with the Rangers after hearing what he received. But for a team that will only sign relievers, I'm growing concerned as the numbers begin to dwindle with what appears to be their lack of urgency. Once Broxton is off the board there will...
