Hockey Fights of the Week: 4/15 - 4/21
Last week's edition of Hockey Fights of the Week might have left you feeling a bit unsatisfied. We'll be the first to admit that the fights were lackluster at best. How did the league respond? Let's just say that for this week's edition we actually had to make a few difficult decisions on which fights to include because there were numerous bouts worthy of the list...

Bruins Claim Daug
I think it's safe to say that if David Dziurzynski had not been knocked out March 6 vs Toronto, Kaspars Daugavins would not have been waived yesterday. But instead we saw a reactionary trade for Matt Kassian, and a useful depth player waived and then claimed by a superior team.
AJ Jakubec suggested yesterday afternoon that the reasoning behind the waiving was a complaint...

The Senators have acquired forward Matt Kassian from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a 2014 6th round draft pick. The 6'5, 247 pound left winger is 26 years old, and has played just 28 games in his NHL career, non of which are from this season, and is a career 0.1 PPG in the AHL.
In other words, he is what you might call a "goon".
Bob McKenzie talked about...

John Jaeckel: Sens/Hawks Rumor and Prospect Update
Follow me @jaeckel
A couple of rumors hit the old inbox yesterday.
Interestingly, they both point in the same direction as a couple of other things I heard a while back. The first had the Hawks considering a waiver claim on Wild forward Matt Kassian. The second had the Hawks talking to the Senators (yet again) about Chris Neil.
A couple of weeks ago, I heard the Hawks...

Here is the Canadiens season in a nutshell
A year after nearly eliminating the eventual Stanley Cup Champions in the first round, the Montreal Canadiens have sunk to the lowest of lows. They're falling apart on and off the ice and the most storied franchise in the sport is the third worst team in the League and has been effectively eliminated from the playoffs for months. They're effectively sleep-walking through...
Doc Emrick Quotes J-Lo After a Hockey Fight
After the Boston Bruins' Shawn Thornton took on the Wild's Matt Kassian in a drawn-out, well-fought fight on the ice, both men were dispatched to their respective penalty boxes. Normally, a pretty uneventful affair. However, Sunday's game was being called by Mike "Doc" Emrick, who may be my favorite announcer in sports right now. No one else gets so excited...
