Diamondbacks' Matt Reynolds resumes throwing, late 2014 possible

Arizona Diamondbacks lefty Matt Reynolds had Tommy John surgery in September after hitting the disabled list in June of 2013, ending his season. He will most likely miss more than half of 2014 as well. He has, though, taken the first steps in his recovery: he has resumed throwing lightly as CBS Sports.com's R.J. White reports. The Diamondbacks tweeted the news on January 13...

Trevor Cahill, Matt Reynolds make injury progress

A key to the fate of the 2013 Diamondbacks will be how Trevor Cahill’s return from injury goes. The 25-year-old had two outstanding months to open the season, but was hurt on the hip on June 19 on a comebacker to the mound. He came out of that game, but threw in two more starts, surrendering six runs in each, leading to a sky-high 4.66 ERA. Cahill threw in the bullpen Tuesday and...

Diamondbacks on the mend continue to progress

It’s good that the Diamondbacks have at least been treading water while they’ve been waiting to get healthy, which is all you could really ask for. They’ve actually played pretty well, and are on the cusp of seeing some key players return to the lineup.

Cardinals power over Diamondbacks in series finale

Even Paul Goldschmidt couldn’t stop the bleeding in the Cardinals’ eight-run 4th inning. (@DBacks, Twitter) It’s officially time to start worrying about Ian Kennedy. The former ace definitely lived up to that “former” descriptor Thursday night as he was walloped by the Cardinals, and the Diamondbacks fell 12-8. The lowest ERA on the Diamondbacks belonging to a pitcher who’s thrown more innings than a really long baseball game belongs to Patrick Corbin. Phillies End Road Trip with Comeback over D’Backs

Just the way they drew it up, I’m sure. The Phillies somehow, someway, come away with a 4-2, 10-inning victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, finishing off their seven-game road trip 4-3. Kyle Kendrick threw seven strong innings, again, but did not factor in the decision. He was hurt, as Phillies pitchers seem to be so often this season, by the lack of an offense. However, KK lowered...
