Loper and Bennett Sign Contracts
Daniel Loper and Michael Bennett signed contracts prior to the Collective Bargaining Agreement expiring. Loper signed for two years and $4.2 million. The contract contains $300,000 bonus and he will make $1.9 million in 2011 and $2 million in 2012. At that number he should be the favorite to start at left guard in 2011.Bennett signed a one-year $890,000 contract that makes him the...

Raiders Waive Veteran RB Michael Bennett, Sign Giordano
According to the SFGate.com, the Oakland Raiders released Michael Bennett on Monday. The move created space for the team to add former Cal safety Matt Giordano to their roster, who will surely have a far greater impact in 2011-12 than Bennett would have had. At worst, Giordano would provide the Raiders with depth at safety and special teams. In seven games last season, Bennett...

Raiders Re-Sign RB Michael Bennett To A 1-Year, $890,000 Contract
Mac's Football Blog reports that the Oakland Raiders have re-signed running back Michael Bennett to a one-year contract worth $890,000. This seems like a curious move as Bennett is 33-years old, received just two carries in seven appearances last season, and dating back to 2006 is averaging 3.54 yards per attempt. It would probably be in Oakland's best interest to move on, but perhaps...

Redrafted draft may be full of surprises
As the NFL draft makes its prime-time debut on Thursday, Chargers Vice President Ed McGuire will be seated, as always, to A.J. Smiths right, two seats away but close enough to hand him the phone if necessary.
McGuire and Smith have been taking phone calls for more than a month since LaDainian Tomlinson left, followed out the door by Michael Bennett about other teams...

Camp Questions, Preseason Answers
The first preseason game could answer questions or it could create new ones and complicate old ones. There is no way to know what will happen Thursday night in Dallas. More than anything, the coaches want to make it through the preseason without significant injuries. There are plenty of questions that need to be answered and the coaches will start to answer them Thursday in Dallas...

REAR ENTRIES: The Black Hole
MICHAEL BENNETT: As long as we’re digging up old players, I may as well post that Michael Bennett (the old running back, not the current defensive end) was signed by the Oakland Raiders.
Bennett, formerly with the San Diego Chargers, accepted a one-year deal, according to a source. The 31-year-old Bennett will be joining his sixth team.
The story says they’re using the...

Special Teams Makes The Difference
When it comes to making the back end of a NFL roster, the most important thing is often how well the player can play special teams. When attempting to predict the 53-man roster, it is important to break the ties by watching who plays on the kick and punt coverage units. Sometimes both players play special teams, in this case it comes down to who is more productive.Tonight when the...

Both sides now: Oakland’s Win over Dallas…a bluff?
After watching the game live on the California broadcast, I decided to see the game from the other side of the fence, with the Cowboys station doing the play by play. It was an interesting view, one that lacked a bit of knowledge. It seems that Jim-Bob and Billy-Bob, both ranking hicks of Dallas fame had plenty to talk about the Cowboys, but seemed to enjoy the fact that the Raiders...

Tuesday Wire Tap
We aren't even to the midway point of the NFL season and we have already experienced some pretty significant injuries. Nothing like the loss we incurred this following Sunday when Ronnie Brown went down in the New England game, however no injury has been as big as that one.
