Wisconsin hockey had it's annual awards banquet earlier tonight and don't worry, we'll get to the team awards in a bit, but first the biggest piece of news coming out of the ceremony was head coach Mike Eaves announcing his captain and assistant captains for the upcoming season.

UW hockey has seen it all this season
MADISON, Wis. Mark Zengerle sat in his apartment on a late November night with his three roommates, scrolling the college hockey rankings on a computer. He scrolled. And scrolled. And scrolled some more, until he reached the bottom of the page.
There was no escaping reality. The numbers told the story of a miserable 10-game run to start the season.
Of the 59 teams in NCAA Division...

Sweet Home Coliseum: Wisconsin earns home ice with 3-2 win over St. Cloud
The Dane County Coliseum, or the Alliant Energy Center as it's called these days was home sweet home for a lot of great Wisconsin hockey memories throughout the years. So perhaps it was only fitting that in the final regular season game of the Badgers 50th year in the modern era they took care of business and earned home ice advantage with a 3-2 win over St. Cloud State on Saturday...

Badgers keep hope alive with sweep of Nebraska-Omaha
The proper reaction to Saturday's result between Wisconsin and Nebraska-Omaha? How about "Where has this been all year?"
No. 16 Wisconsin used a huge surge of offense in blowing out No. 13 UNO, earning the sweep with a 6-2 win, and more importantly keeping some slim hopes for a conference title and NCAA birth alive.
All it took was one good period of play...

Tyler Barnes greatly aided the Badgers' effort, as he ended the...

Wild One in Omaha: Wisconsin gets huge 4-3 win over Nebraska-Omaha

Something had to give between the 2nd ranked offense and the 5th ranked defense in the country as No. 16 Wisconsin and No. 13 Nebraska-Omaha squared off on Friday night. It just had to, right?
Instead, what gave in this one was UNO's defense and Wisconsin's power play defense as the Badgers won a wild one, 4-3, over the Mavericks...

Wisconsin's Michael Mersch will not be suspended
I just got off of the phone with Greg Shepherd, head of WCHA officials, and this is what I know. Mersch came off of the bench on a line change and would have actually would’ve had to enter the altercation in question to be suspended. So, if Mersch had jumped off of the Wisconsin players been and entered the altercation in the Wisconsin end, Mersch would have then been suspended...
UW and UND scrum .59 seconds left
The Badgers and UND exchange pleasantries at the end of the game. I don't think these two teams were asking each other where they were going to meet after the game. Badger forward Michael Mersch needs to be suspended and I expect that he will when the WCHA reviews this film. There is no way to defend Mersch's actions, that's not acceptable in any league. There is conclusive...
Men's Hockey: UW and UND Skate to 1-1 Draw
Friday marked the 162nd meeting between the Wisconsin men’s hockey team and North Dakota.
Considering that the contest marked the second-to-last time that the two heated rivals would meet as conference foes, the ending seemed oddly appropriate.
UW and UND skated to a 1-1 tie and Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Danny Kristo lit the lamp just 25 seconds into the second...
