More stats and a second look at Eagles’ preseason loss to Bears…

The Bears’ backup QB Jimmy Clausen ended up with the best stat line for the night throwing for 150 yards and 2 TD’s. Shows how much I know, I didn’t think he would even play until Week 2 of preseason. I guess a cynic could say the Eagles “2″ defense somehow made Jimmy look good! Certainly no time to worry or panic… just keep grinding, as Chip Kelly and Nick Foles have...

Bears 34, Eagles 28… but more good than bad for Philly fans if they pay attention..

There are several moral victories for the Eagles in their team-effort loss to the Chicago Bears last night (August 8, 2014)… Matt Tucker showed some firepower at RB— but then let the air out of the tires when he put a fumble down on the carpet in a key possession near the end of his audition… Cary Williams showed once again why he is a premier cornerback when he draped all...

Entire 2014 Eagles Draft Class Could Make 53-Man Roster For First Time Since 2001

Photo: Derek Boyko The entire 2014 Philadelphia Eagles rookie draft class could make the 53-man roster this year.  If so, it will be the first time since 2001 that this has happened. In looking back at all the Eagles’ draft classes over the past 15 years — predominantly the Andy Reid era — there was only one where all of them made the final roster after camp and preseason...

Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp Battles

#470774411 / gettyimages.com The most intriguing training camp battle for the Philadelphia Eagles would be at the safety position. Nate Allen had a terrific season. He had 82 tackles, one INT, and a sack. His numbers improved from previous seasons. But, he will have to fend off Earl Wolff, a player who the Philadelphia Eagles are very excited about. He did bang up his knee, but showed...

Philadelphia Eagles: Training Camp Battle Preview

Training camp and the preseason is right around the corner for the 2014-2015 NFL season.  Each team is not completely set in stone as far as the starters for opening day.  There were rookies drafted and free agents picked up that plan on making a name for themselves.  The Philadelphia Eagles made some additions and subtractions during the offseason.  I want to dive into their...

It’s been a while so let’s take a look into our mailbag. You can submit your questions via Twitter to @cover32_PHI or like a weirdo in the comments section. This week we’re talking about the safety position battle and division threats to the Eagles. Adam B: Do you think Nate Allen or Earl Wolff will win the other safety position? Last year we saw that the safeties were probably...

Connor Barwin: Nick Foles has the biggest penis on the Eagles

Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin did an “Ask me anything” on Reddit and one fan asked him who has the biggest penis on the team. Question: Lifelong Eagles fan here to the point of being able to rattle off strength and conditioning coaches, practice squad lineman, etc. One factoid I’ll never have access to: Biggest weiner in the locker room? My sleeper picks are Alex ‘Moose...

Pre-Draft Inventory Check: Part 7 of 8 – Secondary

Every well-run company does a yearly inventory check. In this eight-part series, I will break down, position-by-position, where the Eagles stand, how long-term their current situation is and the likelihood of a draft pick being spent on that position. Next up: The Defensive Backs. The Starters: While still not really a strength, the secondary will head into 2014 in better shape than...

Which of these top 10 safeties could the Philadelphia Eagles take in the NFL draft?

The Philadelphia Eagles may have signed Malcolm Jenkins, but there is still a need to add depth at the safety position. Nate Allen played better last year (although some failed to see this), but Earl Wolff was slowed by injuries almost all season. The Eagles have lacked a game-changer at the position since Brian Dawkins left, so getting back to that style of defense should be a priority...

Twitter reacts to the Philadelphia Eagles bringing back Nate Allen

One of the more maligned players over the last few seasons, safety Nate Allen will be back in a Philadelphia Eagles uniform next year. That’s not as bad as people are making it out to be, though. Allen struggled in his first three seasons, but he was used improperly and had to adjust to a new defensive coordinator every time. 2014 will be the first time in his career where he doesn’t...

Re-signing Nate Allen a No-brainer

Whatever your feelings on Nate Allen may be, bringing the 26-year old safety back on a one-year, $2 million deal was a no-brainer. I get that Allen isn’t the most popular Eagle. Frankly, I wouldn’t have complained if Allen never put on the Midnight Green ever again. But there are just too many reasons why the deal makes sense: 1. Allen was probably the best safety left on the...

Nate Allen, coming off his best season as a professional, re-signed with the Eagles Monday to a one-year contract.
