Hang on Sloopy— Nate Allen gets a 1-year deal from Eagles at safety…

I apologize, this is one of those "move-the-chains" blurbs where nothing much is revealed… At least for Nate Allen, it's a very good day. The Philadelphia Eagles and safety Nate Allen have agreed to terms on a one-year deal, the team announced Monday. Allen proved to be a resilient force in the Eagles' secondary in 2013. Geez let’s talk about anything but DJax !!!

Chip Kelly himself reportedly made nice with DeSean Jackson yesterday in a reassuring phone call… which may possibly mean we can bury the hatchet on that soap opera. Good— the drama was already getting old before any of us eventually bought into it. So what's up on the cue cards now? Well, we can check the Eagles' Free Agent roster box score….. FREE AGENTS...

Mailbag: On the Philadelphia Eagles’ free agency haul, Jackson’s future

I volunteered to give our esteemed, hard-working editor Troy Weller the week off by answering your questions. Thank you to those who sent them in. There were a few quality pass rushers in free agency. Do the Eagles value the draft more for that position? – @Penseur76 I’m not sure I agree with the first statement there. The two best pass rushers from this free agent class never...

Power Rankings: Rating NFL uniforms from 1-32, where are the Philadelphia Eagles?

While the NFL’s free agency period is fun, providing every team in the league a reason to be hopeful about next season, there is a sobering reality about professional sports that comes through during this time of year. In the end, players are just interchangeable parts. Loyalty, from either the teams or the athletes, doesn’t even enter into the equation. Being a part of the community...

Twitter reacts to the Philadelphia Eagles bringing back Nate Allen

One of the more maligned players over the last few seasons, safety Nate Allen will be back in a Philadelphia Eagles uniform next year. That’s not as bad as people are making it out to be, though. Allen struggled in his first three seasons, but he was used improperly and had to adjust to a new defensive coordinator every time. 2014 will be the first time in his career where he doesn’t...

Re-signing Nate Allen a No-brainer

Whatever your feelings on Nate Allen may be, bringing the 26-year old safety back on a one-year, $2 million deal was a no-brainer. I get that Allen isn’t the most popular Eagle. Frankly, I wouldn’t have complained if Allen never put on the Midnight Green ever again. But there are just too many reasons why the deal makes sense: 1. Allen was probably the best safety left on the...

Nate Allen Re-signs and DeSean Left in the Dark

Eagles Re-Sign Nate Allen

Nate Allen, coming off his best season as a professional, re-signed with the Eagles Monday to a one-year contract. Explaining the Philadelphia Eagles’ thought process so far in free agency

Being a Philadelphia Eagles fan means rarely being surprised by anything. It means having a greater patience for emotional and often illogical arguments about the state of the franchise, and it generally means expecting the worst from everyone, from the front office to the players to the fans themselves. Understanding all of that, I’ve still found myself surprised by the gut reactions...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The contracts of all soon-to-be NFL free agents expire at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Franchise tag valuations hurt the earning power of ALL players...

Everyone's talkin' about Jimmy Graham (5th year TE, Saints) and how he got screwed by the NFL Franchise Tag valuations, which designate his price tag as $7 million for a tight end, as opposed to $12 million for a wide receiver. First of all, $7 million is a LOT of dough...in fact, I was amazed by just how high the Franchise Tag numbers for each position really are. Almost...
