Wild begin home-heavy part of schedule
THURSDAY'S STORY LINE: Home sweet home. Home isn't a place the Wild have seen a lot of the last few months. Minnesota has played 20 of the last 29 games on the road and they are looking forward to unpacking their suitcases and being at home for awhile. Minnesota will play 18 of their final 29 games in St. Paul.

Wild defenseman Nick Schultz returns to the ice with a clear head
When Wild defenseman Nick Schultz began working out for this season in June, things did not go as planned.
A foggy feeling accompanied the workouts, and the 29-year-old veteran was forced to back off.
Schultz's season ended four games early last spring when he suffered a concussion in March, so he took it easy for several weeks before growing eager to start getting back into...

Hogwash and Poppycock
Reports surfaced yesterday that the Minnesota Wild were offering a package that included Mikko Koivu, Nick Schultz and Tyler Cuma to Ottawa for Dany Heatley and a sack of potatoes. Anyone who has an ounce of sense, including my 9 year old son, knows this to be a made up rumor. Here is my exchange with said 9 year old:Me: Someone is saying the Wild may trade The Captain for Dany Heatley...

Nick Schultz Doesn't Suck Anymore
When exactly did Wild Defensman Nick Schultz stop sucking so badly on the ice? For years I have winced whenever he went back to handle the puck or try to break up an odd man rush. I remember shaking my head in disgust when he signed his long-term deal with the team, but now I actually think he's priced fairly.Nick was never going to be the #1 defenseman many thought he would...

The Minnesota Wild are getting ready to embark on one of their most recognizable charity drives of the season as the calendar turns from October to Movember.

Retire Number 55
If I were a hockey betting man, I'd lay a small wager on this. And while it may come off as sounding completely ridiculous, it's not too far-fetched to predict that someday Nick Schultz's #55 will be hanging from the rafters of Xcel Energy Center. Why, you ask? Well, here are my reasons for believing so:1. He's played more games than anyone in a Wild sweater, currently...

Thrashers North
So this is what it must be like to be an Atlanta Thrashers fan. Hopefully the team can put together a strong game tonight against the equally-as-bad Vancouver Canucks. Luongo got pulled again last night, so there's the silver lining. To make things a bit more interesting, tonight I plan on taking a drink every time Nick Schultz turns the puck over. I might be hammered before...

Wild having fun with shootouts in practice
By Mike Greenlay
FS North Wild analystLike them or not, NHL shootouts are a reality, and any NHL team that does not practice them, at least occasionally, does so at its own peril. The Minnesota Wild approach this necessary evil in a rather unique way. For head coach Mike Yeo, it's score or else.
The punishment for an indiscretion such as finishing last in the shootout competition...

Wild looking for luck to turn around
When you look at the big picture, the Minnesota Wild are 7-5-2 in their last 14 games and one point out of first place in the Northwest Division. Not bad, considering the expectations around the league were low coming into the year. However, the Wild have gone from having the NHL’s best record to a seven-game losing streak in a matter of two weeks. They hope their luck turns...

The Minnesota Wild was more than opportunistic Tuesday night in its 2-1 win against the San Jose Sharks. Outshot 42-21 on the road against the lineup that San Jose boasts, one would’ve thought that the Wild’s winning streak was surely going to end.
