ACC Football Welcomes Pitt Nicely

Actually, “nicely” is understating it. The schedule the ACC put out there for Pitt is outstanding. 2013 ACC Home Opponents Florida State Miami North Carolina Virginia 2013 ACC Away Opponents Duke Georgia Tech Syracuse Virginia Tech Couple that with home non-con games that include New Mexico and Notre Dame, and Pitt has a schedule that includes two top-10 teams from this season...

Scrimmage #2 – Auditions for Playing Time

Scrimmage #2  is in the books and because PITT won’t have any more scrimmages today was the last chance some players had to ‘audition’ under game conditions for a spot on the two deep.  It was evident the kids had this in mind because it was a spirited and intense day. As opposed to the 183 play run through last week in cloudy and cool conditions, the staff had the team...

Thank you

Tomorrow will be the last day of the Pitt Script Blog. And because no one reads blogs on weekends (who knew?), this will be our last post. On behalf of everyone here, we'd like to send out some thank yous. I'd like to thank Ben, Derek, Dave and the rest of the incredible staff at Bloguin who rescued me from Wordpress hell and gave me an opportunity and fantastic platform...

The QB Recruitment Situation – Now and Forever?

Setting aside the arguments that know we are going to get into on a regular basis from now until Sept. 1 regarding who should be our starting QB going into the 2012 season, lets discuss how we got to be where we are today with that position and what this staff needs to do to correct it. I’m going to piggy-back on Chris Peak’s work over at Rivals.com with his excellent article...

LOOKS & LINKS AT THE NEW STAFF & SPRING BALL

As a follow up for the last piece I wrote about the current camp, here is an anthology of media clips which can give you some background, with sights and sounds, to the 2012 PITT spring practice experience. Because there are so many different media bits about PITT football floating around I thought it might be helpful for to use PITT’s  ‘one stop shop’ to see and hear the...

Roughly Halfway Spring Practice Round-Up

There’s closer to 3 than 2 weeks of spring practices left, but Sunday was the 7th practice and there are only 15 practice days permitted for the spring. There’s going to be some more spacing between practices as scrimmages will take place and more recovery — and time for coaches to review the film — occurs. Time to catch-up after sparing some family time in between the NCAA...

NLI Day 2012

It’s signing day. The annual event. A culmination of predominantly male adults obsessing about the decisions of athletic young men in the age category of 17-18 years. It never stops being creepy. As usual, this will be something of an open thread as we clock-in who officially signs with Pitt, and any info on any surprises. This being a serious and solemn event, it will be treated...

The Tyler Palko era begins

Through the decades, there have been many great football players to come through Oakland...the past decade is no different.  In that time, the Panthers have produced broadcasters (Pat Bostick), mixed martial arts fighters (Dave Brytus), Arena Football quarterbacks (Bill Stull), Heisman runner-ups/future pro football hall of famers (Larry Fitzgerald), Super Bowl champions (Rod...
