The Pirates and Red Sox both sent out their Opening Day starters for their final spring appearance today, and neither fared well.
Paul Maholm allowed three runs in four innings on six hits, a walk, and two K’s. All three runs came on a 20 MPH wind-aided homer, but Paul was still...

Although it’s absolutely killing our chances at Bryce Harper, you have to love the way the Pirates came home and swept Milwaukee after a miserable stretch to begin August. Even if it may not mean anything except a bit of confidence and bragging rights, it feels great.

Paul Maholm was stellar.
After him…..goodness gracious. 11 walks in the game. Thankfully they came from the likes of Davidson, Veal, Slocum, and Chavez. Only Veal has a shot to make the team out of that group, and he struggled the least. Still, it felt like a 2008 game.

Two comebacks! GFJ!
Paul Maholm nearly pitched himself into the record books this afternoon, but a 3-run rally in the 6th made his 6-inning, 4 run performace good enough for a no-decision. Key 2-out hits by Ronny Cedeno and Jason Jaramillo tied the game at 4.
