Significant Backcourt Issues

With NBA Summer League action is a distant memory and free agency movement all but over, we have now truly entered the Association’s off-season.  The 76ers had a disappointing run this summer on the court and General Manager Sam Hinkie was very quiet on the free agency front which means the with training camp just two months away, 7-6 still have a host of issues staring the...

Will Pierre Jackson be Philly's starting point guard next season?

The Philadelphia 76ers agreed to a four-year partially-guaranteed contract with Pierre Jackson last week, but what will the guard's role be on the team next season? How about starting point guard? The 5'10" scorer barely shot 30 percent from the floor in Las Vegas, but was more accurate from behind the three-point line and averaged 10 points per game. Here's more on whether he can...

Pierre Jackson’s Triumph to the Philadelphia 76ers

It is obvious that any attention paid to the Philadelphia 76ers this season will be to watch the highly praised and talented Jahlil Okafor, and it is for good reason. The 3rd overall pick in this year’s draft put up good numbers in the summer league averaging about 15 points per game and 8 rebounds per game, while showing off some great footwork in the post, and his gargantuan...

411 on Summer League Invitees

We all know after the NBA Finals conclude and the Draft is over, that the summer sports schedule is so thin that USWNT soccer games on Fox Sports are must see TV.  That’s especially true in summer 2015 because the Phillies have been so difficult to watch. But it’s time to stop complaining as NBA summer league action tips off next Monday and there will be plenty of 76ers basketball...

76ers Draft Strategy: Did they win by losing?

With the 3rd pick in this year’s NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers have an interesting, yet easily fixed dilemma. Ideally, the 76ers would have wanted to nab the top spot in this year’s draft but dropping in at #3 overall isn’t such a bad fit either. The top two picks in the draft are, almost undoubtedly, going to be Karl-Anthony Towns and Jahlil Okafor, not necessarily in...

76ers Talk: Brett Brown’s Future

For the Philadelphia 76ers to have so many relevant injuries (Tony Wroten, Joel Embiid, Pierre Jackson), be devoid of any real NBA talent, and still play the way they did this season was a small miracle. Not only that, but the roster itself has been a revolving door with a whopping 31 players on payroll for this year. No, that was not a typo.  The 76ers, an NBA team, had 31 players...

Surprise! It’s the New Orleans Pelicans!

The Pelicans look to become this year’s version of the 2013-14 Phoenix Suns. Last August, most analysts and casual fans alike were not under the belief that the Phoenix Suns would amount to much during the season. A majority could probably not name their starting lineup, let alone tell who was on their bench. But suddenly, Phoenix was ablaze of more than just Suns as the team...

Summer League continued Tuesday in Orlando with three games of varying intrigue. OPSL GM1: Close But No Cigar

A promising and competitive showing was seen from the 76ers yesterday as they played their first game against the home team, the Orlando Magic in the opening day of the Orlando Pro Summer League.  The Sixers were defeated by the Magic 83-77 but a lot can be taken away from the first game down here in sunny Florida. Young GMs Stockpiling Draft Assets

The Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers are at nearly identical stages in the multi-year trajectory of their franchises. In the early years of this decade, both teams struggled their way to low-seeded playoff appearances, easily dismissed by the Eastern Conference’s superpowers in the early rounds. Pelicans headed to NBA Lottery, just in case

The New Orleans Pelicans General Manager Dell Demps is headed to New York City for Tuesday's NBA Draft Lottery, just in case.
